Those all look great!

I have a couple of questions.

When you make your notches for marking the bend line where do you do this? Can this be done in the sheet metal flat pattern? I know you did it in your video when you made your beam hangers but when I went to go back and watch it the video was gone.

Another questions. In REVIT there are several pre loaded “Design Components”. They have the current AISC shape data base and different hatches and fasteners ect. Simpson and Hilti both have dxf’s of their products that you can Load in to your design components folder. When you need a hanger or anchor bolt or shape cross section you just hit DC for design component and select it from the list and it loads into your drawing.

Is there something similar in fusion 360? I was assuming where they are both Autodesk products there would be something similar for fusion. Maybe they have a dxf of the cross section for the AISC steel shapes? You load the section and extrude it out the length you need? Thanks!

@72Pony Thanks!

Another early morn stream discussing these two questions

Yes you can import all kinds of things from manufactures and I forgot to mention the any of your saved documents can also be referenced in a current design. I do it with the moon in my video of making the kid with Santa, above.

here is a link to that beam stress analysist video I mentioned .

@TinWhisperer Thanks for going through that for me! Your videos are great!

I also watched the beam analysis. That is cool that fusion has that capability.

If you are interested in doing some simple analysis RISA 3D has a demonstration version, you can download. The demonstration is limited to 40 nodes but with 40 nodes you can analyze beams and many trusses ect. RISA comes pre-loaded with current and historic AISC (American Institue of Steel Construction) shapes. Included in this are Wide flange, Channel, Tube, Pipe, Angle ect. AISC also writes the code for steel design here in the US. Im sure Canada has a similar organization/publication. It also comes preloaded with dimensional lumber, and engineered lumber. If I did videos, I would do a walk through on using it, but I am sure there are plenty of them out there.

@TomWS
Yes, before posting, I did consider the implications of alerting Tin to the AISC manual …and the possibility by bringing it to his attention, that he may have control over yet another manual. I did it in hopes that he will read it… and then at least someone will understand all that is written in the AISC code. :wink: :rofl:

Tin Thanks again for all you do and for helping me out with my questions.

Hey TW,

Just watched the video. Thanks for another installment.

HOWEVER, what I wanted to say was I happened to have my work USB headset at home and I tried it to see if the volume was better than my PC. Much, much better.

I know I had told you a few times you were hard to hear, so I may owe you an apology if it was only me.

It was loud enough that I now believe you really are Canadian! Can’t hide that accent (likely caused by frozen face :cold_face: )

I found an Add In for Fusion 360 that allows you to replace a line drawn in a model with a structural shape. Pretty cool feature and works similar to what I described above. Actually, looks similar to something modeled in RISA.

Creating some new ornaments for the Langmuir Christmas Collection I started last year.

Time to add the MR-1 to the gang.

@Bigdaddy2166 was nice enough to send me a clear picture to work with ( Thanks! ) and I was able to glean the font from the Langmuir main page.

I have a suggestion for us new guys. I, and others from what I’ve seen on this site so far, seem to have trouble knowing when to use lead-ins/outs and how to tailor them to fir unique circumstances.

A general video on how/when/why to use lead-ins/outs. Like what are some suggested values for different metals and scenarios (shapes, scale of cuts, etc.

Even though I’m not much of a sheet metal guy or Fusion guy… It’s that “Feed Your Head” thing that gets me… LOL

You never know what you might learn!! Thanks for the stream…

@KX9M

Here are the pictures.

If I was making more of them I would slightly adjust the measurements but turned out pretty good.

I would have won the race if I was laying it out and cutting it out by hand for a one off vs the CNC. Anything more than one it would have beat me.

Are these videos available anywhere else? Only a few of them are playing for me

@walton34 I have some available on YouTube.

They’re only available for 7 Days on twitch I do have them all saved my computer though.

The streams aren’t very polished so I usually only post them if someone requests a specific episode to get posted to YouTube.

I’m getting ready to do another live stream this morning at about 4:00 -4:10a.m. mountain standard Time today.
