What have you done on your CrossFire Pro Today?

Moved on from dinosaurs for a bit did a ESTY spider today 10 gauge. Slits were a little tight but the only welding I did was on the legs the rest is tight.

Wry cool, how big is it?

As big or small as you want I would think.

That’s a pretty sexy blue torch holder you’ve got there. What made you choose to not use the lasers?

It’s about 16’’ across but I would scale it up just a bit next time for 10 gauge I had to clean up all the slits to slide the pieces together. If you go to big or to small you will have to go in and resize all the slits in the design. I have done that with my dinosaur. Time consuming but nicer final product when done.

Need to buy a new soldering iron

I always solder all my wires/connectors and that sort of thing.

This Eagle came from the same ESTY store as the spider did, but I had some trouble with the file. ChelanJim helped me out. Thanks to him I had something to do today. This one had a few issues but the next one should be a little smoother.

The spider cut fine. The Eagle had several issues.

@Wanabe

That’s really nice. Thanks for posting it.

Can you give a few details on the issues? I have been looking for a 3D project to try this Winter.

Did you TIG or MIG your welds?

Like I said the Spider had no issues at all just make sure you scale it for the thickness of metal your using. Check your slit size when you scale it, a little loose is fine if you plan on putting a tack weld on each piece. That is what I have done. If its to tight you will have to grind the slits bigger. Pain the rear. If you go way bigger you will have to edit every slit. I did this on my big dinosaur its just time consuming. The eagle just had a few issues I could not extrude until ChelanJim fixed it up for me. I would find a different eagle there are several out there, 3D puzzles SVG,DXF files for a few bucks. Post your projects when you get around to it.

A guy could get in trouble converting those laser cut wood projects into metal. Lot of cool things there.

I had already purchased the file before I saw your reply. No big loss. Just wondering if you scaled it, and if so, how much and what were the resulting dimensions of the assembled project.

As for the slit/fit, I thought I’d cut a couple trial pieces to confirm after I arrive at scale.

Others have been doing that for many laser cut products already, with the dino being the most common.

Fred Nelson only works with CNC fiber laser and his dino design is based on a laser setup. You just need to have your kerf width correctly set in Fusion for the consumables you’re using, then cut out the items you desire to utilize the slot based on the material thickness used.

I see. I totally agree soldering is the best option. I just wanted to check and make sure there wasn’t a problem with your kit.

The upside is that even without the lasers the mount is still and upgrade.

Built 2 frames for driveway gates. 1/2" steel plate.bases. the I beams are W10-15 the arms are 2x2x1/4. Used the CFPro to cut the plate down to 15x15 and make the 1 inch mounting holes. Cut the Square holes in the I Beams for the 2x2 arms. Cut the 2x8 gate mounting tabs also.out of 1/2" plate. Customer changed the height of the arm after I cut the firts set of square holes. Hence the second set of holes. That was good practice for part location though. If stacked on top of eachother those hole line up pretty close to dead nuts. They will be inside stone pillars that are 8 feet tall and 3 feet round.

Well that was a little disappointing. I wanted my cookie and chocolate right now. I did not want to wait for 31 more videos!!!

Sorry, there will be no detailed, documented analysis anymore. It’s all about entertainment value and that these guys are rewarded for their ebullience and hyperbole, it will only get worse…

I think you might be right. I am glad I skipped thru it. At one point he said “We will be doing 31 video taping sessions to get all of the discs tested.” :scream:
