What have you done on your CrossFire Pro Today?

Yes the one you used to roll the rings for the table

My first attempt at a cut on the CrossFire Pro with a Razorcut 45. I designed it in Fusion 360 as 6" around but when transferring to FireControl it was showing 9". Had to resize it last minute in FC and just wanted to make an attempt. Sure I can clean up a lot of the mistakes here. Cutting 18 gauge galvanized at 30 amps, 120ipm, 75 psi. Probably need to adjust some of those as well. I bought this machine over a year ago but was away for work so just glad I was able to make it fire and do something other than sit in the basement.

I’m glad you got back at it. I don’t have any experience cutting galvanized metal. I’m sure you know the fumes from that can be really bad.

I found that mild steel is the best metal to get your cuts dialed in: less variables to contend with.

For a very first cut: AMAZING!

Thanks Jim. I am aware, I have that industrial vent hood above the machine which vents outside and won’t normally be cutting galvanized but had some 6"x6" plates laying around. I will pick up some mild steel next week and have another go at it. Again, just excited that it fired! Now down the rabbit hole I go.

I’m guessing you mean 6" diameter. Not posting just to correct you but to say even at 6" diameter, your text will be finicky to cut. If you wanted to post your file in the Fusion 360 section of the forum, I’m sure you’ll get a lot of help with modifying it if you are new to F360.

I am finally finishing the garage cabinet build out. I have to cut 8 more of these packout drawer shelves I designed.

Sadly, my CFP is not reliably cutting on the X>40" side of the table. It ruined one of these cuts missing steps. I cleaned the entire drivetrain yesterday, but still haven’t tried cuts on the right side. Keeping my nesting to the left.

Made a new enclosures for my MR-1 monitor and a real keyboard, along with a switch that activates a contactor for the controller, monitor, and spindle so I don’t have to crawl behind everything to turn it on and off.

Ah, the tube roller, yes. It works fine. Haven’t used it much, got it during a HF 25% off day. I plan on turning some mandrels for square tubing, we’ll see how well it holds up for that.

Got the garden wrap around tree table almost finished today. Legs are wobbly, need to fashion up some gussets next. The top fits together great, can’t see the connection joint at all.

Did you use the Fusion 360 finger joint add-in for your tabs?

Nope!

Just cut, measure, and confirm.

I see, old school.

Was funny because I didn’t even need to do that; I can cut and expect my actual dimensions to be within a hundredth of an inch larger (for inside cuts) or smaller (for outside cuts).

Just did that test piece above before I went and cut into a 4’ x 4’ sheet of 3/16" and fuck it up

There’s a small pile of ubiquitous garden and yard art cut, prepared and ready for finish.

This is 1 and 2/3 sheets of 14 gauge mild steel. I still had some pieces prepared for my pro table at 32x48 I used five of them. It was an hour and 16 minutes of torch on time and 1146 pierces. I changed my electrode out at 280 pierces in. I haven’t looked back in the notes to see what the life status of the other consumables are at.
All these will be finished in different ways whether that’s patina, black, heat tint, clear, extra. Some of this will be for at the gallery and others will be for farmers markets and such coming up.

I wish we had more farmers flea markets around here. We have one flea market about 45 minutes from home. There is a guy that taught welding at the local collage that sells plasma art well he uses to.

The issue I see if you can’t sell pieces less than 20 bucks no one is interested in it. Other than to say oh man that’s nice you did a good job.
