Oh that face is so sweet. That is heartbreaking. As you might guess, I like dogs.
Nice job with the sign!

Thank you, the wife and I love dogs, and losing them is the toughest thing to deal with sometimes.
When I was asked to make this I could not say no.
What is kind of cool is that my buddy used AI to transfer a photo of her dog into a DXF file to cut this. So this is a pretty accurate rendition of Leo. I am not really a big fan of AI, and I am too old to actually understand how a lot of it works, but Alex did a really good job in creating this image.
Plus it is as unique as the actual dog was. It is not just a clip art, which I think is pretty cool.
Haha, thanks. That was an accident. Was hoping it would slide by everyone! I bent it. OOPS
Maybe I should not have admitted that. LOL ![]()
No I meant I was amazed you could cut something so narrow without it melting off. I get nervous when something is less than 2mm wide.
You gotta live life on the edge man! ![]()
Oh, thanks. To be honest I just wing it and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I don’t typically make signs with the machine however, I usually make car parts, so I don’t cut things that sharp very often. I got lucky with that cut up until I bent it trying to keep it from hitting the floor.
Lesson there is that I should not be dropping things.
I understand being concerned about that though. Sharp corners and tight spaces make for some interesting times with a plasma cutter.
I forgot how well a bath of fresh vinegar solution does at mill scale removal. Got lazy and hadn’t changed out my solution for about 6 months. I mix 1/2 gallon of 45% vinegar solution into 10 gallons of water. It works well and is not irritatingly strong if you catch a breath of it.
According to Win11 Search Assistant:
When you mix 64 ounces of 45% vinegar with 10 gallons (1280 ounces) of water, the total volume becomes 1344 ounces, and the amount of acetic acid from the vinegar is 28.8 ounces (64 ounces × 0.45). The new concentration is approximately 2.14% acetic acid.

Made some ears for a bucket I am fabricating out of an old smooth skidsteer bucket to go on my mini excavator. 3/8” steel, Miller 625 hand torch. I still need to make some bushings for my pin size. 3/8” might be a little thin but I plan on welding some gussets on the sides of the ears. 3/8” is what I had and I don’t know how well my Miller would cut 1/2”
I’ve learned to drill or machine the holes for pins, especially on thicker than quarter inch…especially on 1 inch plate
Play with your torch height.
I used a value of -0.2 in that item and 100ipm.
@peterro Where did you find these ferns? I teach and these would look great in my office…
I had to make a few tweaks for all the leaves to be cut out but they weren’t too bad.
Most recent project. Similar to the fern panels but the feel of our Hawaii trips. I was also learning a bit more about inkscape conversions.
Hi Jim, I can tell by your posts that you are my kind if guy, I just ordered a PRO for my retirement in 6 months (on my 67th birthday) for easier custom fabrication. I have also been searching for a way to convert a photo into a stencil without a subscription to photoshop. Can you shed more light onto how your friend Alex did the conversion?
Here is a free website that does a decent job of getting you started toward the silhouette that you need for 2 color pictures.
Here is an example I just did:
That is really cool, I suspect that you are going to enjoy your new machine.
My buddy Alix went into Chat GTP and typed out a description of the image that he wanted, and he stated in his description that he wanted it to create the clean end file that could be converted to a DXF or SVG file.
He then said something about uploading an image of the dog that Chat GTP used to create a cut ready file. In the original post I put in there that he sent me a DXF file, but going back through my saved images I found that he sent me a PNG that I used in a converter to create the DXF so I could put it into Fusion 360.
So basically he just had Chat GPT create a custom clean clip art. Then I used an online free program called Convertio that converted the image to one that could be used in Fusion. Convertio will convert to several different formats, but I only use it for DXF or SVG.
A couple of extra steps but it converted really well the first time and did not require any clean up on my end to get a decent cut out of.
I know nothing about those AI programs so beyond that I probably could not answer questions. If you have any about Chat GTP though I am willing to contact Alix and ask him - if that would help you out at all.

Thanks for the guidance.
