I definitely had some cuts where the flame was not contained by material, and then some where the initial pierce was creating blobs that would get stuck to the Cu tip of the nozzle. I also seem to be having some issues with my X axis returning to the same location (backlash?), but it usually undershoots. I might need to move away from the dry graphite and start using grease for the lead screws. I wonder if it might not be taking up enough volume to “pack” the LS nut on the carriage.
A client had three saw blades that he wanted inscribed.
The set up was a little tricky. But I was able to index correctly and plan the letters of the same arc as the back of the saw.
I think they’ll be happy. The only clean up I did was dry it off.
But they’re so rusty! Useless as saws!
My Dad as one of the two man crosscut saws hanging in his garage. I’ve been too afraid to offer to cut it because that’s a “one and done” proposition.
If I ever upgrade to a Hypertherm on my table, I might become man enough to give it a go. ![]()
I’m sure the TinMan tested his program before he cut the 100-year-old saw. He is also the TinMan.
It did come out awesome
.
Today, I made these boathouse lift brackets for a friend who owns another marina down the river.
Here are some pictures before and after.
Sorry, it won’t let me load photos from an iPhone. For my life, I cannot understand the iPhone craze. They are an absolute pain in the ass.
Anyway, they are 1/4 A36 and were bent on the Titan 25T.
After
Before. Had to convert them to JPG from whatever Apple uses.
Glad to know I’m not the only conscientious objector to Apple. I have an old I-Pad mini I bought when I was traveling a lot for work, but otherwise I prefer the Android platform. Just bought a Samsung S25.
Having been burned by obsolescence on other still viable phones, this statement was something I found reassuring: “The Galaxy S25 series will support seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates”.
My Android just went satellite-capable yesterday.
I am astonished at how well it works.
Many people at the marina have Apple phones.
They are constantly battling Wi-Fi issues and call drops. They hand me the phone and I hand it back. They operate almost totally opposite of an Android. I guess it is just a preference and, of course, my grumpy old man’s position on this subject. Let the hate mail begin. ![]()
I have endeavored to make sure there never is/was or will be an i-Thing in my life, right up until Work handed me a tablet with required Apps to submit my time and other equipment related stuff.
Not available on Android. Bastards. Their own in-house app developer said that he did not want to make it for two platforms, He prefers apple.
You guys should start a new thread, titled ‘Apple Sauce’… Or, ‘Rotten Apples’… yeah, that one.
Why the relief cuts? The T25 would have bent it or am I missing something?
I did not need them. It is just a force of habit. The Titan 25T would bend that without any issues.
It’s just me trying to lessen the load on the machine.
I had to endure an apple as a work phone for a couple years, as long as it was ONLY for that, it was tolerable. Anything else I needed it to step in and do? Garbage. My personal phone is my 2nd Galaxy Fold (First was the z fold2, now z fold6). Love these things, SO much screen area to do things on.
I’m also on T-mobile, so I wonder if this thing is going to get starlink capability too. edit Says it’s an option, guess not part of my plan though.
All my mobile phones went on Saturday. You need to be on the top-tier plan, or it will be July
Yay, back on topic
hmmm what have you done on your phone today? apple or droid? who cares? no wonder when I search a topic I can never find what i am looking for. Thanks Brian for posting something related
This thread has been unsearchable for years!
I was asked to make some boxes to add weight/storage to this box grader. I’m pretty happy with how these slot over the bend on the back of the box. I put tabs on the front, to bolt them down, but the owner wants to just leave them hooked over the back
Nice work as always!
