made some dies for the langmuir press.
Nice work! What steel alloy did you use?
I have no idea lol. what ever was in the scrap bin at the local metal store. i do 99% alu material so i figured it didnt matter much
I teach Manufacturing at a technical center and would love to use Vcarve Pro with our new MR-1. Could you send me your PP to try?
having a cnc router that i use vcarve pro with, i am not sure thats a good solution on the mr1 as its super limited in features. you can download fusion 360 for free to use fyi
I use Vcarve Pro for all my 2d machining. If you will PM me your email address I would be happy to send it.
Guy
I have a wood cnc and use vcarve . It tend to not cut smooth edges on mr1. I tried design in vcarve then export to fusion. Fusion is worth the money and doesn’t take much time to learn if you know vcarve
and you can also use fusion for free. Fusion has a learning curve for sure, but seems to be better in almost every way over vcarve
Okay once again I am making the largest Parts on my mr1 this is 1030 steel alloy 1 inch thick and very complicated
MR-1 milling machine cut this steel just as easy as aluminum I wondered how well it would cut steel and now I am amazed. I think the best machine for the money for sure just wanted to share do not be afraid to put Solid Steel in your mr1 machine
Those parts look totally awesome! So far everything I have milled on my MR-1 has been aluminum. I have a steel project coming up and am encouraged to see the success that others have achieved.
I couldn’t find a thing for showing off plasma and bending parts so I thought I would post my project on this page.
It’s a mini jet boat that I saw in a YouTube video and said to myself how hard could it be??
Pretty cool! How many hours/days did that take to machine?
1 hour with a 1/2" end mill to hog it out and another 2 hours with an 1/8" ball mill to finish.
The relief is 0.6" deep into a 1.25" slab.
Axle Retainer Plate for 9 inch Ford rear end . 1/4 plate steel bolted to a 3D printed fixture plate. Enough rigidity from the 3D print fixture plate for the part to fit perfectly.
Great idea! 3d printed fixture plates!
Here is a name plate I made on my MR-1 Beck Tools on Instagram: "Playing around with some different finishes on a steel part."
