What have you done on your CrossFire Pro Today?

Labyrinth - PNG - wife supplied

Laser cut prototype

Tool path - I’m doubtful this will work, too much heat

It came out great!

You took the proverbial ‘umbrella for rain in the sunshine’: It worked to ward off the bad karma.

Great job! Your wife really gives you some challenges. It appears you are always up for them.

Thanks, we’re having a little concrete pad poured today, then out in the garden he goes!

I don’t know the answered my question from earlier. How thick can you cut with that laser?

That’s not a straight forward answer for us. We have both the gun and a mountable XY head. We can run compressed air, nitrogen or oxygen. Then there’s steel, stainless, aluminum, copper and brass. I really don’t have an answer yet.

Haven’t been on here lately.

Mainly cause I’ve been doing a lot of small projects one of which was this little backstop I needed for the project below -

The backstop will come in handy for this next project as I’m expecting to make 40 sets of these.

Here’s just half a set -

Nuts welded in place for mounting pieces together -

Just need to head out and grab an air over hydraulic bottle jack. Used to have one on my Swag Offroad press brake but I got rid of the press itself as I didn’t like the bends it created.

Are we going to see a laser cutting at your shop in the near future?

You are becoming quite the You Tuber also.

Thanks. The laser cutter/welder was put on the boat a week ago. Should be here around August 10th or so.

My garden shaman is finally home!

7 months in the making. Every step of the way was a new learning experience: making a low-poly design out of steel (watched a ton of paper craft and cosplay construction videos), making a wire buck and forming steel with an english wheel (watched many custom car body work videos), forming a curved surface with 3D scan data, creating a curved-surface flat cut pattern using Blender’s UV unwrapping and finally pouring an mounting base using Quikrete and anchor bolts. Are there mistakes? Hell yes, would I do things differently? Of course. Will these things bug me when I see him, no way. When I turned him over to my wife for coloring and accessories, he took on a real personality. Whereas I saw him for months in the shop as a muffler with a head. Everyone that’s seen him is blown away. I’m glad my wife challenged me with her request. Every step of the way, I learned a new technique and fabrication skill. Please branch out from your comfort zone, after all, its only steel.

Perfect attitude!!

I think you have encapsulated the attitude that allows such exploration. Bravo!

Looks great. It seems like it will attract aliens and Indian voodoo. Good job, though, and good luck with your soon-to-be encounters of the third kind.

Are you kidding us?! If I stumbled (or possibly staggered) across something like that in the middle of the night I’d hustle my butt out of there in a HURRY!

No one will be bothering Craig with THAT in place! Good job indeed!

I’m hoping the local deer think the same way.

Cut up a few sheets of 14 gauge. Few custom signs but mainly yard and house metal art.

I’m not exactly sure but maybe a hundred different pieces.

They still need a soak and then they all need to be finished in one way or another.

I’d have to add up exactly how much time but there is a lot of cutting time here.

When you cut, YOU CUT!

Well, if you are going to spin up the tool, may as well get everything.

That’s impressive. What’s the center image of the large compass rose in the last picture?

I gotta get better about setting up enough cuts to use up whatever I load to the table. I end up cutting one or two things, offloading a partial sheet, loading different gauge,… The result is multiple partially used sheets. For a small timer like me it’s not too big a deal, but still not the smartest thing to do for sure.

Not cut on my pro but my XR.
My first job since my surgery, tables sat idle all winter.

Heck with the Sign! Show us the machine!!!

Nice work. The first pic threw me off a little bit trying to figure out what it was…
