In the famous words of @Bigdaddy2166 the pucker factor was high.

Our XR hasn’t been set up very long so my confidence isn’t as high as with the PRO yet. I’m very relieved that this cut ended up being a success.

My business partner welded up those cut flange this afternoon

The 1/4" aluminum sheet was $500 Canadian plus tax and the 1/2" was $38 per sq ft Cdn + tax.

Give the gantry and other parts on table a light coat of wd40 and the aluminum spatter will wipe off easy…

Were you able to get it shipped all the way up to your place?

What I have learnt is the plasma is accurate but its not Precise. Have cut some very intrique signs and designs… but the few things I have cut that I wanted precise have failed.

Im still learning I know there are some techniques I Need to master…

We met the freight truck near the border and slid the two boxes that make up the XR onto a trailer. Then we imported it into Canada.

Well, in the attempt to fix my table bed’s drainage system, since I had made some pretty ragged holes the first time I put sink drains in, I dun mega goofed it up. Tried to weld in some “adapters” to get the drains to sit in at the “dimpled” height, but warped the ever living life out of the bed’s base when welding them in.

So I spose now I’m off to trying to have a new single piece bed fabbed up, to just overall be done with coolant issues.

deep sigh

Well, my helper got his engine and trans installed in the 68 Dart. His CrossFire Pro transmission mount worked perfectly.

Nice, did he paint it? I really like 68-69 Darts.

Him and his dad. His dad is working hard with this kid. The car was hit in the rear quarter. They cut off the quarter and rewelded on a reproduction one.
They built a 426 wedge for it. It had a 340 originally.
He can mig weld very good. I’m teaching him how to use the plasma table. Basic shapes and learning Fusion.
Next I’ll move on to the Mill. First the Bridgeport then the MR1.

That kid is lucky to have found you!

Your heart just keeps growing “grumpy BigDaddy!”

Out of twenty helpers in the last couple of years he is my best. He has the drive to learn. Very quiet with no drama. So far. I start these guys at 20 per hour. I bump them up every 90 days. He drives to work in a 95 pontiac trans am with a 650 hp LS motor with 300 shot of nitrous that shoots out over the windshield when he purges it out. He is only 19.

I believe in a cosmic destiny for some of us. You may have found your calling. All of your previous experiences have shaped you so that you can share them with this individual. :innocent:

I have yet to find my place in the cosmos. Perhaps it will be my welding skills. Don’t laugh: Erik has been teaching me!

I would amend that statement: Welding is just preparation for a good “grinder.”

Welding’s easy, one of you guys really that bad?

No doubt, you are very accomplished.

I am; but, it is a combination of age, shaking and floaters in my eyes. Even my optometrist says to me “Can you see all of those floaters?” I am like “Yes…that is what I have been telling you for years.” Sometimes it is as if someone rubbed Vaseline on my corneas. Enjoy your youth: It has an expiration date. It is what it is.

Now Erik is another matter: He just does NOT want to be kicked out of the Grinder’s Club. I think we are going to need to bring his membership up for another vote! I have seen that he has done a good job before. He is bordering on faking his poor skills. :slightly_smiling_face:
