The shrinker grabs the metal with 4 teeth about 1/16" apart then with tremendous force pulls it together, which makes it ever so thicker. Here’s the back side where you can see all the little teeth marks made from the shrinker.
You should have seen the giant hole I blew in it with the TIG “tack”. I began to question my manhood.
So I have the same shrinker stretcher but I would have never guessed you could do that tight of radius
There are likely lots of us on here.
20 years ago, I had my AWS 1.1 cert. Then I moved to 3D design…
Needless to say, I know what a good weld should look like, but the skills, they are declining!
I might have to make one of these since no one want to post it on the fileshare. These look great!
There is at least 1 on Fireshare… but I think it would be great if you added to the list!
Maybe if we added a “What have you done on your CrossFire XR Today” thread @OldNBroken would feel like he was more a part of the group and be more apt to share.

I seen that one but it’s cut ready. I like @OldNBroken design much better. No worries I can do one later this week and post. I think @TinWhisperer did one also but is holding out on us also…lol
Good point… I hadn’t noticed that. Was thinking it would at least get you a start… but no so much.
No snow yet in Michigan and looking like rain and temps in 50’s for Xmas.
We could just change it to “What have you done on your Crossfire today”, since all of the plasma tables are Crossfire.
We had a good start… now high pressure has taken over nothing substantial headed our way in the next 15 days according to the models. ![]()
Sorry guys, I just don’t know how to post on there. I would love to share it if someone can help me later today.
The one on fireshare right now is basically just a picture I think
I did my own base and sadly there is a small bit of welding to do but nothing major
Was going to expand it to make a 36" option too, just haven’t done it yet
I seem to remember he was contemplating how he was going to “top” it. He was still thinking on the finished design.
- Perhaps he will unveil on the eve of Christmas, or
- He was too occupied with his Shaper Trace device, or
- He has been too busy with his real job of keeping people warm, or
- Family responsibilities, or
- Helping us poor, unfortunate souls, or
- Can anyone help me with another distraction…oh I don’t know…
Okay, I’m going to try to post the snow gauges on fireshare. First time doing this so…
Anyways, I went ahead and made a 34" version and included it also.
Long story why I made it 34 and not 36 but I think if your wives have lived with being shorted 2 inches all these years I’m sure you all can handle it too.
This does work okay with 16 gauge but I liked 14 gauge much better. With the 45 angle and the reinforced base plate its a good sturdy design without being too heavy. in either gauge.
Unfortunately I’m not sure how others can bend it even with the relief cuts in it but it’s designed for a 45. Sorry I can’t help any more than that.
Good looking T!
Talk about kicking a man when he is DOWN… that’s rough!! ![]()

And… I am 1/4” shy of a foot taller than my wife… 2 more inches might be awkward… ![]()
