Visualizer Problems - Something Just Changed

I can no longer see the tool path and visualizer in FireControl. It was working just a week or so ago. I have not changed anything, nor made any updates. I am running the Crossfire Pro with version 21.1.1.5. It is all of the nc programs that are doing it now, not just the new ones that I have recently created. The visualizer is turned on, but nothing is showing in that portion of the screen.

Any chance you have scrolled away from the image? Zoomed in or something?

Is there a zoom to part or fit to part?

Have you tried to close fire control and reload?

Make sure your visualizer is turned on.

Edit: looks like you said it is on… sorry I should have read to the end of your post. :grimacing::rofl:

I though of the same possibility. I have zoomed in and zoomed out, too. Nothing. I don’t even have the crosshairs that show where the torch head is. I am also not able to choose the origin point. That one is a real pain.

Is that a screen shot taken while the program is running?

Welcome to the forum!

You might look at this link as this person had the same thing happen. They downloaded the older version of FireControl, meant for slower graphic cards, and was able to get the visualizer again. This does lose connection to the limit switches. I believe later they allowed the upgrade of FireControl and continued to have the visualizer working and also had the limit switches connected (if memory serves).

Yep. I had a video, too, but we don’t have that option here.

That is my plan for today, but that really blows. I bought the limit switches a few months back.

@langmuir-reilly @langmuir-daniel any suggestions? What would have caused the change in the couple of weeks?

@langmuir-zack @langmuir-sam any suggestions? What would have caused the change in the couple of weeks?

@Langmuir-Mia any suggestions? What would have caused the change in the couple of weeks?

There is a “compatibility version” of 21.1.5 that retains the limit switch function. I’m not sure this is the problem, since it was working before with the same video card. It looks like you have 6 other programs running in the background. Maybe they are taking up too much processing power on the video card.

I will try closing some programs next. It hasn’t been an issue in the past, but its worth a shot. Thanks!

Hello @creekfall! There are a few steps that should fix the visualizer issue your experiencing. I’ve listed them below. Some of them have already been mentioned in the previous comments, but I wanted to put a comprehensive answer to assist you.

  • Have you reinstalled the latest graphics driver that’s found on our download page of our website? I’ve linked the url. (Downloads | Langmuir Systems)
  • Have you tried updating the graphics driver through your updates menu in Windows Settings? This should find the latest graphics driver for your particular computer’s build.
  • Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling FireControl or rolling back to an older version of FireControl? As @ChelanJim stated, this has helped customers in the past that have had some newer drivers. There is also a compatibility version like @ds690 has stated that would retain function of the limit switches as well.
  • Have you tried exporting the .nc file to a .tap file? I’ve had more luck personally running tap files that I’ve had with .nc files. I may be a special case, but I’d like to know if the .tap files are also running into the same graphics issue.

Could you give these a try and if you’d like to speak over the phone, please feel free to call us so we can get you back up and running as quickly as possible!

Thanks!

im having the same issue I’ve run 10 or so programs from fusion 360 through with no problems with the visualizer. i even used it 2 days ago no problem now all the sudden its gone. i have it selected in the top left, ive uninstalled and redownloaded, I’ve updated drivers no idea what then problem is if you figured it out please let me know!!! very frustrating.

Is there a chance you have one of these CPU’s?

You may need to install one of the FireControl versions meant for slower graphic cards. Use the link supplied above by @langmuir-alex.

Note: This is not suggesting that you have a slow graphic card. But this version is much more stable for what you are experiencing.

The compatibility version has been my only fix so far.
