Visualizer Issues

I am having issues with a new install of FireControl where the visualizer is not showing anything. I have it checked as on in the view menu. Anything else I should check?

Does this happen with all nc or tap files??

Please supply/attach a file that is not showing up in FireControl visualizer.

Try to make sure when you are making the gcode that you are in the xy plane. And make sure it goes thru post processing that way.

I have used this file with success on my laptop that I have been using on the table for a while. I just purchased a mini PC to be a dedicated setup for the table and installed FireControl on it. I am able to jog the table and use most functions - just no visualizer image shows up. Nothing happens when I hit the fit buttons - either part or machine. Also, when trying to set program origin - nothing shows up there either.

I tried re-installing FireControl and no change. Also ran windows updates and restart, and no change.

It’s happening with all nc files.

I am running the same version of FireControl on both computers. 21.1.5

Before you reinstalled FireControl, you want to be sure to delete the folder that housed it.

Somehow it is not getting something it needs for the graphics card. It may even be something with the settings of the graphics card.

You are giving good information, I am just not that computer savvy.

What kind of specs does this mini PC have?

It maybe doom to work from the start.

You probably need to run the “compatibility” version of Firecontrol on the mini PC. It probably doesn’t have the necessary video card to run the normal version.

If you don’t have limit switches, you can also download version 20.6.2, which doesn’t have those issues.

Here are the specs on the PC

I tried the full uninstall/reinstall again with no luck. how do I find the “compatibility” version?

Thanks Jim. I will try that next.

I originally ran FC on an old laptop. It had all sorts of issues like this. I did get it running in compatibility mode. The video card in the old laptop was the issue, something with directX, OpenGL or other. Pitched the laptop and got a miniPC. Good luck.

That mini computer should have no problem running Fire control. The N100 chip should be running at 3.5 MHz. Is .800 a typo?
That may be the problem 1.0 Mhz minimum for FireControl.
Never saw one that slow.

It looks like the compatibility version of FireControl is working. Is there any reason for concern here, or should I run this version and not worry about it?

What’s different between this and the full version?

It is a version that doesn’t use a lot of the graphics section of the chip.

If you got that from Amazon, I would send it back.
Beelink mini with N100 chip runs 3.4 hz and 16 RAM 500 MB of storage. I have 3 of them working flawlessly. They are less than $200 . If you are interested, I will send you a link.
.800 Mhz is your problem if that is truly it.
Just my two cents again😁

I don’t think there is any functional difference in terms of running the table. The difference in is how the graphics are rendered.

Hey Andy,

I would agree with @Bigdaddy2166 regarding the clock speed of your processor. Your Intel N100 has a clock speed of 800 MHz, while FireControl’s system requirements call for a minimum of 1.6 Ghz. In other words, your computer offers exactly half of the processing power that FireControl needs.

Frankly, I’m surprised that the compatibility version is running, though it was designed for older hardware.

After digging into it more, the clock speed is 800 MHz per processor core with 4 cores - that’s how they state 3.2 GHz for the N100.

So, is FireControl capable of using multiple processors, or it needs 1.6 GHz on a single core?

Also, what is the RAM requirements? I have 8 G of RAM - is that sufficient?

4 GB is sufficient to run FireControl. There has to be a problem with that mini.

When I go to the About section of the settings menu, my mini says 3.8ghz. The screenshot you posted said .800. It’s like it’s only using 1 core.

What clock speed is listed in the “Performance” tab of the Task Manager? There is definitely something odd going on here. Both the “About” section of Settings as well as the Task Manager usually show clock speed as a totality, not per-core:

You can even tell that my CPU is overclocked based on the reported speed being higher than the base speed:
