Still very impressed your composure. This will serve you well in advancing years.

Hang in there man, you’ll get it.

My situation is much less severe. I’ve had many successful cuts. Beautiful cuts actually. Ironically, my earlier efforts were also the best result. That’s why I got really got me irritated when failures became more regular.

It’s just been steadily getting worse, to the point I stopped for some problem solving.

@CrazyCasey . I hope this fix of moving the USB socket away from the enclosure is the fix that everyone’s been looking for

Well guys. I’m probably as shocked as you are going to be.

USB Spaced off the enclosure by 1/8”. Nothing else changed.

I just did six 12” long straight line cuts in a row, as fast as I could push the buttons. I used IHS and THC and it was really working hard because I was cutting 22GA and the cuts were only spaced 1/4” apart so it was warping pretty bad.

Not a single hiccup!

And my air compressor even kicked on in the middle of the 5th cut and remained on for most of the 6th cut.

I’m too trigger shy to call it fixed, yet, but this certainly seems like it may have been the magic bullet.

Austin, I owe you a beer, @AVRCUSTOMS.

Wow…!

Wow is right! That is awesome news. Hope it turns out to be a permanent fix.

For what it’s worth, this isn’t a new issue with the USB port touching the case and causing a ground loop. I’ve seen a couple of topics about this in the past since the pro came out. Langmuir should have fixed/addressed this problem a long time ago by just adding something like a non metallic shield around the USB port.

I hope this was the main issue you were having.

Holy smokes that’s awesome!! I bet there are a bunch of people with these tables having issues due to this! I posted it where I could!! I’m stoked for you man! Go cut some shit!!

I definitely will, Erik, after I get a chance to do some more testing.

Yes they should!

I’ve probably wasted about $500 in material and consumables, not to mention several hours of my own diagnosis time, a few hours of Langmuir’s diagnosis time, a bent z-axis assembly, a bent machine torch mount, probably some small amount of unseen damage to my machine torch, x-axis carriage, and gantry tube, ~450 posts worth of website bandwidth, and the time and effort of each and every one of you fine people, too.

If this winds up being it, then I’m just glad to have finally found it, but what an easily avoidable issue to have had in the first place.

If you would search this forum, it’s been discussed many times in the past, but you don’t research anything just come on here and whine. Blame everyone and thing instead of blaming yourself for not doing search feature on this forum.

I had not done any gaming till recently. But I have had a couple buddies drag me into a few games over the last couple months.

it had been maybe a 15-year hiatus or something like that from gaming till recently.

I bought the gaming laptop for the shop mainly cuz I wanted it to be fast for Fusion or anything else I wanted to do with it.

Hey @rat196426 I’m going to print this post out, frame it, and hang it above my plasma table:

It will serve as my daily reminder of how easy it can be to let yourself become a sad and angry person.

But, hey, @Found thinks you’re cool! Just goes to show that misery loves company, I guess.

Now if only I can find an air compressor that goes to 200psi…I could probably get those cut lines extra crisp!

Also, just to reiterate for anyone still reading:

I tested for continuity from USB port to table, as outlined in the Langmuir instructions and I had NO CONTINUITY.

I verified this at multiple times and stages throughout my trouble shooting process.

I couldn’t even find continuity between the USB port and the screws in my electronics enclosure.

But for some reason the USB touching still “seems” to have been causing my issues.

I will add this to the main post once I get some more time on the machine to verify this is in fact solved.

these are actually very cheap…the ones that Langmuir has worked for me…

Well guys. The USB port contact is NOT the magic bullet!

I’ve been cutting for about an hour and half, just burning up all kinds of metal. Dryer running in the house, compressor kicking on and off, and it was all going perfectly until it randomly froze up again.

By almost a factor of double this was the most I have ever cut without having a failure.

Since @rat196426 says I just whine and blame people, I’m going to blame him and his bad attitude for this one. I mean, might as well, right?

I guess it’s time to try the raw voltage.
