Program Cancels In Middle Of Cut (SOLVED)

Having an issue with the program canceling in the middle of a cut. I see other posts about program freezing and pausing with the torch still lit but I’m not sure this is the same thing. The system has worked fine and just started this out of the blue, no changes. In the middle of a cut it will just stop and I get a popup box that says program cancelled. It does not freeze up and the torch does stop also. It will still function properly after clearing the popup box. I can start the cut over and it will do the same thing but it will shut off at different points in the cut. I’ve tried several different projects and they all do the same thing. Anybody?

Which Error message?

Is it only on longer cuts that it stops in the middle of a cut?

Is your air pressure keeping up?

Feels like air or duty cycle.

The popup box says program cancelled. Loaded program will be reset.
The first time it did it was just on a 4" x 4" plate. Just stops at random times. I re-cut the 4x4 plate 6 times and it stopped in a different location each time.
I have a large compressor system, plenty of air.
I just now tried a run from here command to try and continue the cut and it cut about 2 inches before shutting down again.

Does the plate have any holes in it does it complete the holes without any issue?
Is the fail always on the outer perimeter of the cut? (This would only make sense if the plate had holes in it)
Are your consumables in good shape currently?

It doesn’t say anything about Lost arc voltage or any other message?

Has this program works properly for you in the past or is this the first time you’ve run this piece of g code?
Could you post it if it’s a brand new piece of g code to you.

Also are you using the THC during the cut?

It does have holes, it has stopped while cutting a hole before. It does seem to fail more on the outer perimeter but that could be just because there is a lot more of it.
I think my consumables are good, it cuts great while it’s cutting. Clean edges.
The box only says " Program cancelled. Loaded program will be reset"
The programs that have failed are new, I made them with Fusion 360.
I will try to post it.

Yes, using THC.

Confirm this

I will change them and try again.

inspect the ones that are it in first.

nothing is jumping out at me with the code.

there is not included in the message pop up ? “machine disconnected:…” I am try to rule out a usb issue

That is all the message says.
I inspected the consumables and everything looks great except there was a small piece of slag inside the shield cap. Removed it.

Ok, i had the THC converter box attached to the back of the crossfire motor control box with velcro. I pulled it loose and just let it hang. Removed the slag as mentioned above and did a run from here command again. It completed the cut which was fairly lengthy. The most i’ve seen it run in a while. I hesitate to say it’s fixed but would you think either of these could be the issue?

The slag may have been the culprit.

Normal I like to make one change at a time while troubleshooting so we aren’t guessing what fixed it.

That is great you are up and running. Watch it closely for the next several cut and if it keeps behaving. please come back and mark this topic “(SOLVED)” * use the small pencil icon near the title to rename the title and added (SOLVED)

if it fails again keep posting and we will keep throwing targeted solutions at it .

I have a couple more cuts to make now. I will reply.

so here is what I am thinking…
one of the things I have written on the wall of my shop to check for when an error happens is to check all connections…
what I mean by that is to check each mechanical wire connection…unplug the wires for each part…inspect the plug…wire and the socket it goes into…blow a little clean air on them…not your moist breath…compressed air.
you would be surprised how often a simple bit of debris…or the fact a hanging wire after time can actually wiggle loose…or wiggle enough to weaken the connection…this is called a clean and torque.

we do Clean and Torques on electrical panels once a year in commercial institutions as the heat and loading of even screwed down electrical connections can come loose after a while…resulting in arcing and poor connections.

so when you moved the Velcro box you moved some connections…

@toolboy I agree with all the electrical connection advise.

but why would Firecontrol not display a THC related fault Error during the stop if the connections of the THC had extra resistance enough to fail the cut?

Thats what I don’t understand. Why does it cancel the program. Almost like I pressed a stop button.

I was going to ask if you had a extra keyboard or pad hooked to the computer that may have been pressed.

No keyboard or mouse. I am using a touchscreen connected to a desktop computer.
