Pan Drain Dimple Die Mod 2

try carbon fiber reinforced Polycarbonate, the rigidity and strength with that reinforced polymer is amazing (if you are just printing out one set of these, no worries on carbon fiber abrassive nature on your brass nozzle, but if you plan to print much more of the carbon fiber PC, def get a hardened nozzle or you will eventually wear out your brass nozzle).
Also, Prusa has PETG with carbon fiber, same thing, just not quite as rigid, but stronger than PETG by itself (same advice on the nozzle).

Hey JC_Wren, I added myself to the list, just don’t know where the dimple set currently is and who has it.

@DavidSetness Hey David, was just checking to see if you received the dimple dies, are done with them, and have shipped them to the next person yet.
thanks,
chris

I did and they were sent on to next person. Worked great.

I sent them to ccraft

Just checking in to see where list stands? Last info in thread is that Mr Craft had it in August?

Hello, new here and wanted to see if anyone knows where the die is? Id like to get it asap thanks!!

Here is a link to the thread where the dies are being shared. You can add your name to that list.

Is this still being checked out? I’d love to use it.

My question may have been answered already but if it was I missed it.

These dies that ya’ll are making, are they sized for the original drains that are shipped with the CrossFire Pro?

Thanks, David

Welcome to the forum. I’ve only been here a few weeks myself, but it’s a great place. Lots of friendly, helpful folks.

These dies are sized for 2.5" bar sink drains that require a recessed area for the drain lip in order to seal properly. The stock drain pans are not swaged/dimpled/recessed. They simply have a 1" hole punched in them for the stock drains, which are just a brass bulkhead fitting.

IMO, the biggest problem with the stock drains is not their height, but the fact they have a piddly 3/8" diameter opening (1/4" drain plug). Even clean water will take forever to drain. Add in all the sludge and metal shavings and they are guaranteed to clog quickly.

I have my table and am in the process of building it. I’m planning to go with 3/4" NPT bulkhead fittings. For my hobbyist use case, I think it will work well enough.

I’m more concerned with the ability to quickly drain and fill the table than I am with getting every last drop of water out of the table. I’m going with a holding tank/pressurized air fill system. Nothing fancy, just some 1/4 turn valves and PEX piping.

One user on this forum has a pneumatic valve/button operated air fill/drain system. It is really slick. I may try that later on, but need to get the table put together and working first.

Whatever you decide on the drain size i found a rolled up piece of scotchbrite stuffed into the drain eliminates crud getting into the downtubes and causing a blockage. They do fill with the sludge and slow the drain but at least eliminates the blockage. I typically open the drain and walk away to work on something else instead of watching the drain
