@langmuir-aksel -No, but now I will with a 3D printed shield.
Thanks for the suggestion.
@TomWS - Well, it is plastic so I could have printed it, but I save that for things I can’t buy.
I have my Mini PC set for no updates.
As long as FireControl runs happy I’m happy.
Same with the mini PC running CarbideMotion on my CNC router.
Do you have the original GRBL controller on the Shapeoko? I used the ShapeOko frame for my CNC router but went with MachineKit (BBB) controller and that fills both roles (GUI & Motion Control).
@TomWS - I have upgraded it to the latest gadgets, but it is still all Shapeoko parts.
Hey felich. Well I have got to say that it is working out great. I’ve got it all mounted and the touchscreen up and running as well as a Microsoft game controller to run the table as well. Everything seems to be running smooth and I haven’t had any issues with any cuts as far as EMI.
We also set up Remote desktop so if we need to run from the main computer, we can do everything from there as well and not actually have to be at the table. I was thinking of getting a long usb cable before buying the minicomputer, but I have heard the horror stories concerning EMI. The mini computer is the way to go.
@sr71xjet - I’m glad it all worked out for you.
Are you going to do an indexed cut on that sheet in the photo?
Jim
not this time. cutting out some fire pits. got the design set to use 46 x 31 3 times out of this sheet. Can get 2 full pits out of each 4 x 8 sheet. I havent done any indexing yet. still reading up on it.
Okay trying to get my Crossfire pro up and running but I am electrical idiot. I have a the THC and have a hypertherm 45xp with the cnc port. Is there any way you could send me what wires go where as it seem you are running the same system. The instructions just seem to be getting me confused over and over again. I’m really a picture or video learner. Also I should say I will be running the machine torch. LPlease help. I love your build
Dave i bought the cable from langmuir that is prebuilt for hypertherm cutters. Plug and play. Do u have this cable?
I do but Im still confused, i need like a picture book it seems like i have so many wires left over. even a rough hand drawn sketch would do. i know this is a total noob question. I’m thinking i just won’t be using some of the other wires that were given since I have the CNC port cable from them.
Dang, you beat me too it. Good Job felich.
yes thank you this is exactly what i needed
Happy Burning…
Well after looking at this thread I’ve added more to my list of need to buy. Thanks guys!!! Need some overtime now
Oh your welcome. I love helping people spend their money.
I find myself following in your footsteps yet again. I went the overkill route and ordered a Beelink U57 since I anticipate running a few other programs besides just Firecontrol on it. They’re down to $329 on Amazon.
This will help slow my laptops death from being dragged back and forth from the basement to the garage; from 3D printer, desktop computer and design desk, to dusty shop next to plasma cutter.
Long live your laptop.
What’s shaking fellas?!
Want to just thank everyone for all of the help. Just received and started building my Pro. Several times I have ran into issues and a quick search on the forums (this one in particular) have answered my questions. Thanks for all the help and suggestions, cant wait to start cutting!
Welcome to the club.
