Learning 3D printing

me too for the time being.

This Swiss army knife approach they took has me a little soured.

I also have a feeling they’re gonna do the same thing where they release the A1 mini and then a little while later they release the A1, they may do something similar here when they release the H2D and then they release an H2D XL. Most people wanted a sizably bigger volume so the markets there for them,

Agree, the swiss army approach results in less that stellar performance with all the different blades.

“jack of all trades, master of none.” This phrase describes something, like dual-sport motorcycles, that can perform multiple tasks decently—like riding on both street and dirt—but doesn’t excel in any one area compared to specialized vehicles. Dual-sport bikes are designed for versatility, balancing on-road legality with off-road capability, but they often compromise on performance in either domain when compared to dedicated street bikes or dirt bikes. - grok

I don’t care a the laser, the decal etching. I do like the fact that it’s larger and faster. Well, according to YouTube, Clough42. We shall see.

I want to print supports without sticking and fighting, or making a career out of filament changes.

That is when Saturday Night Live was worth staying up to see. I remember that skit.

So, after about 8 variations, I finally was able to print a working nozzle for my powder coating gun. The trick was a .2 nozzle with a. 04mm layer height. 30% infill using abs. The holes are 1.5 mm

Now you have it dialed in, you can make a new nozzle, or modify to suit your needs anytime you want.

I decided to wait on the HD2 printer to see how it all pans out. The larger area is very tempting. I don’t require all the other features because everything I make is black ABS.

A friend stayed at our house and one of our lights (required by code at an outside step) was a LED lantern style light. Thus, no bulb to pull out and difficult to shade. I was able to wrap cardboard around it for the one night but I thought I should come up with a more elegant design. This will shade two sides but allow a bit of downward light to escape. The other two sides will allow full illumination. I intend to hold it on with a small bungee. (Unable to test fit as the location is across the state.)

I used Elegoo Rapid PLA+ since that is all I had in black. It is more of a prototype to check for fit as I have my doubts that it will hold up well in the weather. The location is an area that the temperatures are often in the 90’s during the summer and sometimes reaches as high as 110F.

ABS, ASA, PEBT(?).

I would also put some sort of silver or mirrored lining on the inside to help with reflecting a light out

All good suggestions. I ordered some black ABS & PETG from bambulabs yesterday.

I am now thinking I might just try this PLA+ as a test case for the weather. It is brutal over there so it will be a good test

As far as light escaping out thru the slits, that was just a thought/flare of the design to see what it does. There is lots of light that come out of the bottom.

I could glue some aluminum foil on the inside.

My grandson has a creality K2 Plus muli color printer and loves it … Big build volume and built very well. And is open source. Un like bambu lab printers your stuck with all there stuff… No MODs… We also have a Creality KE Printer too…

You are not stuck with bamboo labs stuff other than parts. Don’t need to modify it because, well, unlike a lot of other high-end printers out there bamboo lab just works.

Yes they tightened up security a bit so if you use Orca slicer you have to use a secondary manager to allow you to still print, but you can still use Orca slicer and print through your bamboo lab printers.

Bamboo studio is a fork off of orcaslicer, and they didn’t molester it so bad as it looks like a redesign.

I really like the idea of the robot testing of filament. It sort of reminds me of my cousin who was like the Christmas toy tester of our family. Most of his toys never endured past 10 days.

My brother’s toys would not have any damage 3 years later: Not ideal IMO.

Where do you need this at? I could print it here if I’m in the neighborhood
