The Bambu H2D

Here’s a little bit more information about the new bamboo coming in q1 of 2025

Bigger and dual head. Some of the day headline changes. Heated chamber?

Dual head reminds me of some of the Dremel 3d printing machines of the past.

Interesting, we shall see.I will be interested to know if that dual nozzle will decrease bi-color print time or just a gimmick.

I debated whether to post this here, or in the “what did you make today” thread. This is an example of where I’m trying to take my work flow…

(PS-Sorry about the click-bait-y title)

Is that frame “embossed” on the model? Really cool detail!

I really need to get a 3d printer… I want to make fidget spinners for my kid. We took apart one of his and I showed him how the bearings work and we researched bearings together. It was fun.

You would not regret it. Get one with an enclosure because within 6 months you will want to be using ABS or ASA for something. My neighbor bought a really cheap one after he saw my X1-C and two months later he is planning to buy one with an enclosure.

Got a quote on the post cap lantern project and it is reasonable.

Its about 15hours of printing and 400g of filament for all 3 files.

I did try emboss but it wasn’t working correctly. I ended taking a round about approach by using the extrude and combine tools.

I do really like the slant 3D printing videos from YouTube.

Check out the common section in this one, I think the LTT fans are being a little rough on him this time with some valid points.

I am trying out Bambu’s
“AMS filament Backup”
Function today.

I have a roll of transparent PETG that is all but empty and a full roll.

under the device menu

I just started a print. AMS desiccant pods for my new AMS. lets see how well this function works .

I have a print next week that uses 950grams so I need this function to work well.

I use that backup reel function all the time. All the printer needs to know is that it is the same type and color. Before you tell it to print you can click on the green circle to see if it has the slots mapped correctly. I am not home now so I can’t show a picture of it.
Here is the graphic. If you click on the refill icon:

And either of these two messages shows up, it is probably not set up right:

If you see this message, you are good to go:

If you don’t see that last message, reset both filaments and assign them again picking Manufacturer, Type and Color. Slice again.
Note: The printer will often switch which roll it plans to use first. It seems to pick the last roll that you assigned/loaded as the first roll to start printing. Just pick/verify the roll you want to start the print by clicking here:

Virtual Foundry’s website is not very good. They have a 6061 aluminum filament listed, but none of the sintering kilns is listed as compatible.

I watched a YouTube video of someone trying the print something and sinter it with pretty disappointing results about a year ago.

Question for the group: Has anyone worked with ASA-CF filament?

I just got some from Bambu and it is VEEERY brittle. It was brittle when I opened the package. I put it in my dehydrater at 157F for 12 hours and it did not change that characteristics one little bit. If anything, it is more brittle.
