Learning 3D printing

Yes. I believe the print farm would only be for printing something I am not successful with…even then, I can’t imagine me needing the number of items that $1000 would buy.

Did you get a sense of how many post toppers that would be?

Made a test piece while waiting on abs glass fiber filament to get here.

Are there plans on sharing this project on makerworld or printables?

Any chance you could share the files for this…our makerspace would like to remove the cover and this would work out great!

We need a game where we post a picture and then people find the random crap in it. Oh wait, we already play it. I love it.

BTW what algorithm did you hit for new people to post asking for files?

Agreed in regards to these machines usefulness in protyping! I use 4 different machines now. I just test printed a custom input shaft and plate to modify a Peerless 2500 from hydrostatic to direct drive using the original bevel gear. Cost me a couple bucks but I’m able to test fit and alignments with no commitment. Once I get them right I can plasma the plate and machine the shaft. I will be doing the same process to design my jack shaft mounts coming from the transmission and some test linkages. I will also be 3D printing TPU motor mount bushings, bump stops, and various trim guards. I’ll use ASA to print wire harness organizers, switch covers, oil cooler mounts, and more. Pennys on the dollar so I can prototype until its right.

There’s a bunch at Maker world, this one uses a skate bearing and spins in both directions

@philip.poulterjr and @Zapf Welcome to the Forum to you both. DM’s sent

A new box from Bambu has Arrived. Time to print the Lantern from ABS-CF. it added about an hour to the print time . Made a few subtle design changes as well.

Fingers crossed. I also bought some motors and other hardware from bambu to try out on a few projects.

Edit . thirty minutes in and its printing buttery smooth.

The ABS CF is a very nice material. The finish on this part is great and it is very dimensionally accurate for ABS.

I’m going to try a few different solar panels in the removable top but for now I think the main body and the post adapter are good the way they are.

I’m going to mount this post lantern today and then if everything goes well I’ll print the last two I need.

It’s sure nice having a confident workflow for the 3D printer.

That’s looking good! It is nice on those larger prints when your machine is zeroed in and getting it done with minimal post print work.

Do I get to join the club with a 12 hour laser cutting nest on an 8$ piece of Baltic birch?

It’s not about the money, it’s about the time. Reminds me of an old equation.

Proof that Girls (well women now since I’m older) are evil

I want to see what 12 hours of laser does to birch besides warming soup.

Lol. Cuts an engraves 30 Christmas ornaments. Maybe 35. I forget what the nest was.

It’s a slow xtool d1 diode with the extension kit.

Those diode lasers are handy though. I think they are more bang for buck than the CO lasers.
