Learning 3D printing

Totally with you.

As the character “Marvin” played by John Malkovich in the movie “RED”,
(I am paraphrasing) “When they want to flip the switch, they flip the switch.”

He goes on to say:
Marvin Boggs: Ok. So they pull her voice from the payphone even now. Install the voice recognition software and backtrace it to Singer. Then we show up, they bring out the satellite and we’re fried with Y rays.

I have compromised. The computer that I use with Bambu Studios does not have much info on it.

It’s “They switch the flip”.

LOL
That’s right. Thanks, I tried to find it in quotes from the movie.

Heated chamber is key. Wish the Bambu offered this as a control feature for higher temp polymers.

Doesn’t the X1 E have a heated chamber?

Yea, so I don’t understand why they couldn’t offer it for the X1 C

I looked at the X1E, but it’s $1000 more than the X1C. There must be a more significant difference than just the heated chamber. Supposedly it has a network connection; I’m unsure if that’s a Bambu platform.

I did do some reading on that when it first came out. It does have a couple ticks above the X1C like the closed network so you don’t have to send your print files to BL, but the main point is a 1-800 number to call for support. Somebody has to pay the wages.

Well, I am glad I didn’t opt for that enterprise version. I have @Sticks, @TinWhisperer , @ChelanJim and @72Pony for support.
Now that’s worth a lot. And you guys all speak English.

Ethernet capable vs wifi, operates standalone (no connection back to the mother ship needed for the China privacy folks), & phone support. $1000 seems like a lot but depending on the buyer, maybe not.

My first ABS part. It covers an area when they take the factory fish finder off a Tracker Aluminum boat and add a giant $3000 unit. It covers the holes that Tracker puts in the dashboard. I should have flipped it so the texture was on top, but I will do the next one. I will also add our Marina logo.

They know I’m in my shop now and are starting to bother me. Time to exit stage left.
Some of these guys spend more on fish finders than the boat cost. All to outsmart a creature with a brain the size of a pencil eraser. The sorry thing is the Eraser wins most of the time.
My best friend has been the world champion bass fisherman for the last 4 years. Jacob Wheeler. You should see the electronic stuff on his boat.

Another setting in bamboo studio you might want to try is the flatten or iron top layer. Where to use the hot tip of the nozzle to iron out the top layer.

Certainly you ll pay for the bambu 50 times over with all the boat things you will build

I have finished my wife’s K-Mart logo coaster in Fusion. I exported it to Bambu Studio. I picked the colors for the different bodies and flipped them over so they printed on the texture plate. Now, I’m going to need one of these for my basement. Till tomorrow morning, it can print while I figure out the back gauge operation on the Titan
She loved K-Mart. We had a funeral service for it when they closed the Chattanooga store.

I had a few parts that responded well to the ironing and several that didn’t.

But I read a review on the Elegoo filament (the one I keep bragging about) that said they got great results but found that the first layer needed to go on really thin. Otherwise filament would build up on the hot end and drag across the following layers and mess them up. That definitely could have been what happened.

I will try it. But tomorrow, I will flip it over to get the texture on the face.

The ironing will add a lot of time to the print. I really like it on the top of walls. It gives it a nice finished look.

I ordered in a .2 stainless nozzle to try out. and this machine amazes me again. A lot of things you can literally just half scale that would have been printed with the .4 and print fine with the 0.2 nozzle. It’s not a resin printer but it can get very small. I had an old window Shaker I put in my kids room it was missing the knobs so I made some new ones. I printed their names on the top quite small.

just in time for summer (now that its half way done). I printed these in clear PETG, 15% infill on X1C. Included Fusion file, all dimensions are parameters.

Summer theme, continued:

I love that sunny days but don’t want too much sun. Thus, I love umbrellas. Two weeks ago, I was enjoying the sanding beach but got tired of holding the umbrella. I had seen umbrella screw anchors for sale in the past but I wanted to print one. It has become an obsession. I have not fully tested any of these but #1, #2 and #5 all have their merits. I just printed #3 last night (Eleven hour print with supports).

Here is another version of #3. I added a “keeper” bolt. I want to test #3 before I print this one:

This was the original style that formed the basis for #3. I downloaded from Thingverse (or another) and then modified the mesh file in Fusion 360.

Edit: The one that is ‘#1’ in the photo ‘turned’ out to be the best titled “Beach Umbrella Anchor by otvinta3d”.
