when you make these in wood there called “living hinges”

Here is another trick/gimick/ application for printers.

Still amazed how people come up with this.

Do I leave the unit on and just put it to sleep so I can work from home? Is that a bad idea? I turned it off and got home. Bambu Studio couldn’t connect.

Mine stays powered on all the time.

Thanks. Jimmy just got back to me, too. This is pretty cool :sunglasses:

Mine is always on as well.

I turn the light off. You can control it from your phone.

Thank you for showing me how to get the light off.
Bammmm!

Just don’t forget that if you run a print from home, and want to do another one, last on is still on the print bed. No trunk monkey available for remote bed clearing.

No, I was creating something I wanted to make, and it would not let me go past the filament colors because it could not see the AMS. I don’t plan on playing Russian roulette with it right now.

Mine started doing that lately, all of a sudden it will loose AMS connection and I have to unplug the AMS and plug it back in and then it sees it again.

I don’t know if this pertains to what you are doing with training your printer for the filament but it seems to rely on two steps: one at the printer and one in Bambu Studios. A preliminary step is required if using a customized filament.

Step 1 (custom filament): This is done in Bambu studios). Bring up the filament list, pick customized filament and fill in the filament brand and type, bed temp and hot end temp as a minimum. You can go into a lot more detail if you know what you are doing.

Step 2: Load the filament and train the printer what it is. This can only be done at the printer (I think?!)

Step 3: (Bambu Studios) resync the filaments.

Every time I open Bambu Studios I resync the filaments. I have not encountered any issues doing this.

One issue that you have to watch for is when you have two filament that are the same (or at least I tell the printer they are the same). I do this when I am about to run out on the one spool. Invariably, Bambu Studios decides to start with the new spool nearly Everytime. You have to watch for it. Otherwise you will end up with a bunch of partial rolls of filament.

Syncing does send China all your printer info, and keeps your profile current. I don’t bother syncing, all the “custom” filaments are on the bambu studio profile once I made them. I don’t even detail them other than something like Generic Flow, Generic Fast Draft, Generic Mod…

The trick to the filament change is to make sure the AMS is set up so each “Next Spool” is labeled the same. It will hang on color, and flavor differences.

I am definitely “still learning” so I don’t know what is absolutely necessary.

One thing nice about the filament “running out” is that the printer accepts anything added to the slot as a true replacement. I do worry about layer adhesion when it has been waiting thru the night for me to see that it needs new filament.

But all-in-all, the Bambu printer really simplifies knowledge needed for good results.

Question to the group on ASA:
Bed adhesion is totally reliant on the heat of the plate. Once my plate is cool, nothing is stuck. It just falls off. Is that what others have noticed?

Other than that, the prints have turned out perfect. (I am using Flashforge ASA filament.)

that is what it is supposed to do. Caution on large ASA items, long walls will cool and pull up the corners and or layer separation. HEATED CHAMBER - SLOW COOL WHEN DONE!!!

If you are using Bambu Studios and sending your print to the printer thru your WiFi, I assumed that you were potentially sending all of your information to “Mothership” anyway. Only the Bambu printer X1E is able to operate autonomously. The only way to avoid it is to carry a SD card from your computer to the printer.

At least that is suppose to be one of the key features X1E.

Yeah, well ,I don’t trust that anything, and I do mean ANYTHING that has internet access of any sort does not do data dumps. Microphones and cameras are stupid small anymore.

Don’t matter if you did not give permission, it is still dumping any and all info it collects back to the mothership.

I’ll save the tin hat rant for another time.

You can send prints in LAN only mode, where it sends the print to the SD card in the printer.

I don’t have anything that I feel I need to hide from China, so I’ll just continue to use the cloud.
