🗡 Knife Design/ Making Knives

It is not too early to start thinking about how you would safely carry such a knife. These holsters are for pistols, but they give some options to consider:

The ever popular leather sheath.

Plastic form-fitting by with spring release lever/button.

Form fitting plastic with a retention strap

Form fitting and I assume friction retains the tool/pistol/knife

Serpa holsters are garbage.

I will say, I have no experience with that model/Brand. I figure Tin would just fabricate something to meet his needs anyway.
I couldn’t find the one I really wanted to show but, now I have:

This is pretty clever. It retains the “tool” and easy to release.

Another cleaver this one has a 1950 bel Air vibe.

Again the handle is somewhat bulbus.
May make a few more cleavers.

pistols are a sore subject here in Canada.

I may start designing some knife holsters to go with a few of the knives

I prefer my hoodie pocket or waist band…

Weirdly enough I am learning ton with this design to print workflow.

The CAD is simple but so much to learn and learn better.

Understood. Just looking at pistol holster because they seem be more developed than most knife sheaths.

This one looks like you would use for carpet laying, linoleum or that insulation batting/board that goes inside heating/cooling ducts.

This could be a nice survival feature.

Are you planning that this would be sharpened with a round file? This could give you a option for cutting wood or rope when the blade becomes damaged or totally dull.

This is a GIF and you may need to hit play again .

Any Favorites so far?

Here they are numbered 1 to 24 for reference .

That is not really a fair question because we don’t know the primary function of the knife. But I am willing to play along.

Green is my first pick. Blue are all worth consideration…still need to know is this for carrying all day, just on hikes/camping, meeting prospective guests at the front door, kitchen tasks???

Red picks are if you plan to have a parrot on your shoulder.

In order of preference for what I like in knives. As @ChelanJim said, without knowing your primary use cases, take this with a grain of salt as they may not fit you final goals.

23, 19 (with half circle filled in on spine), 24, 5

I haven’t got any farther than this comment I made earlier.

I have lot’s of different knives that serve their specific purposes.

Something semi all-purposed fixed blade.

I mean if we want to get down to practicalities and realities most custom knives are totally overpriced and serve no more purpose than the average $20 knife.

I guess the purpose is something

sharp fun interesting and unique

That’s an awesome design.

My EDC follows it nearly to the T.

Not a tanto guy, but that one looks nice

That is a nice knife. I like that it folds and the serrated portion.
