It’s not cheaper if you still have to build a structural drawer or shelf. Which is why I developed an entire modular system of drawers and shelves compatible with packouts. That is now paper weights and trashed…
In their defense, I can see how your product could directly compete with their current and future products. A packout drawer system is definitely something they have probably T&E’d. I’m not too concerned with them going after someone making tractor mounts. Especially with companies like builtright and integral truck or even some of the larger UTV accessory companies making mounting systems compatible with their tech.
Well, I had a few convos with their attorney. There are over 40 companies on the list of infringers. Not including the dozens on etsy, CL, and ebay. I got the impression they are working their way through the list… Integral Trucks entire product line infringes on the patent…
My cabinet system came out before theirs. In any case, I no longer sell infringing product. I pivoted to selling drawers and shelves that are bolt on ready for their mounting plates.
Plus, I have an exciting partnership that I just signed as a co-designer and reseller. You’ll see stuff on that soon. I don’t really care about packouts anymore. Selling all of mine. Found something much better.
The biggest plus side to the packouts is there are 3 retailers within 15 miles of me. Definitely not gonna switch to a competitor.
I dont think I’d ever do open orders on products. I do production run group orders for facebook groups and local guys. If I did a larger order id definitely farm it out to a laser shop. I just dont have the time to deal with it. I could sell 100 of them and the time it takes away from farming would outweigh any profits. I like the design and prototyping more than manufacturing
I actually think builtright has a fairly infringement free design that works with packout. Doesn’t really match any milwaukee drawings in their patent. Pretty clever design
Door closes…another opens.
Good for you!
I was told ANY interface with the feet specifically is infringement.
The patent is watertight. Any interface risks getting sued.
I have some Milwaukee tools, but this litigious nonsense about the connection design turns me off immediately.
I have HUNDREDS of hours of design time that all went into the toilet. Tell me about it brother! It doesn’t make any sense, but that is what they are doing.
If you design something and post it or sell it on ebay, amazon, etc. before the patent is granted and/or even after the Chinese are going to copy it and sell it cheaper.
The Chinese have people here in the states checking every hour for things to get and ship over to China to copy.
I don’t think there is anything in the welding or plasma cutter field that the Chinese hasn’t copyed.
Ha. You’re right, they have copied everything. I just saw a post on another website (Wangmuirsystems.com) from a user giving advice about consumables he sells. User name: 機械416
Let me guess, that’s Hanzi for Mechanic!!!
Not quite… Mechanic would be 机械
The characters you have spell ‘Grumpy Mechanic’
So true.
This has been going on for quite awhile. I read a story of “WeedEater”. It got held up in the patent process long enough that by the time it finally got the official patent, there was other ‘line’/‘string’ trimmers out in the market. About the only thing that company salvaged was the name.
George, I didn’t call you grumpy. Nothing could be further from the truth. No offense intended.
Just put in your user name:
Wow!! his influence and persona are felt and understood all the way over in China!!
JK
Its fine, sometimes I am grumpy. Its not just the Chinese that copy. Sellers on ebay and amazon copy my adds all the time. Mostly because they can’t think for them selves or are just to lazy to try.
Put on those extra braces for the packout mount today. Boy that really makes a difference. You can jump on it with barely any flex now.
Next on the list is a couple fire extinguisher mounts. I’ve had some stopfire extinguishers floating around for awhile and only have one holder. Never though I’d spend a grand on a single fire extinguisher but here I am with 3 now. They work great but definitely pisses you off when an employee uses one to put out a fire on his 500 dollar truck
What makes them so expensive?
Bruh, lawyers don’t care about sales, they care about their wallets.
They’re incredibly durable, work super fast, reach areas you can’t get to, non corrosive, zero residue or cleanup. My understanding is they’re essentially a gas blanket you’re putting on the fire. So if you have a fire deep in a combine and you can’t even see it, a couple puffs around the area will still effect the fire. Ive seen one put out a burning hay bale in just a couple seconds, which is incredibly impressive.
Im sure they cost 50 bucks to make, but its good insurance for expensive equipment.
