It's been awhile. Post those projects!

Holy crap, that’s awesome and you made the entire deer with the antlers. I love it!

Im curious did you make the hinges adjustable, so you could dial in the fit after it was installed?

I bet you had some time into that, very impressive!

Great concept!

That is outstanding!

I might have to steal/plagiarize/borrow that idea. My daughter’s in-laws own a mulch company and have a massive 35 foot double-gate. Each post was anchored with 9 yards of concrete. They have entertained the idea of putting some artwork on it. Their one stipulation: It must look good from both sides. They also want it to have some ‘meaning’ of their business and/or the area they live (Bainbridge Island).

Obviously, we would use different trees…but those trees do have a kinship to the Madrona tree that this coastal area has. As you can see, the Madrona tend to grow more upright.

What is really nice about your design is that you have revealed the beauty of “less is more.” I was trying to fill all the space with an image. You showed how that was not necessary. Very nice, indeed!

the hinges are not adjustable. I had the benefit of constructing every part of this gate including the concrete bases so i was malicious about the dimentions and the posts were mounted on four 1" threaded rod buried in the concrete with a nut on top and bottom of the post flange. this allowed me to adjust all 4 on each post to get them just right and make minor adjustments to line up the panels. the dimension between post mounts got off by 3/4" so i just corrected that in the drawing to keep the spacing correct and everything else was just plumb and level with the gate post mounts.

Thanks for the compliment. the owner wanted artistic and simple. and we came up with this idea that the gate is split in the middle of a tree. the less is more idea, artisticly, sure turned out to be a lot of work. you can see in the picture that the tree trunk is boxed in and tied into the gate frame structure which gave it an awesome 3dimensional look but it was in reality part of the structure.

also plagiarize what you will. if someone likes my idea that much to replicate all or part of my design, I’m flattered. i only require that you fly me out to this island to see the finished product on a weekend of my choosing.

41 Oak Mountain Rd lettering looks a little vulnerable to Assholes. It does look like the property owner is a 2nd amendment type person…

ya the lettering is thick enough steel that they would have to put in a little effort but ultimately the owner didn’t want the design dictated by possible vandals. I did however talk them out of a deer or elk silhouette as that does seem to invite unwanted gun fire.

Awesome job on the gate!

Looks like central Utah? Sanpete County? One of the underappreciated parts of the state in my opinion!

Utah is underappreciated. OTOH, Utah does have some facets that keep people away. If I think about all the states I have visited, Utah stands out in that I have enjoyed almost all of the time I’ve spent there.

Of course, that may be due to the fact that most of the time it was with the fewest number of people!

have to cut the drawer and send it all for testing. But, based on measurements, yes.
