Love it! Nice simple interface, everything you need on one uncomplicated screen. Very effective THC, that’s not at all fiddly. No fuss, did not affect my workflow in the least. Have not had a chance to really put it through it’s paces yet, but can already appreciate it’s functionality, so much so, I rushed out and bought the 24" LG monitor for the laptop.
My Mach3 system brought on the extractor fan in the shop for me via a SSR when I clicked reset. Was easy enough to implement using an opto-isolater across the torch-on relay coil, which tickled an external 555 one-shot timer and the fan SSR.
HUH?
so what I got out of that is,…
on…fan…shop…
tsk. Translation:
He attached his fan to the new Firecontrol with a timer that would continue to run the fan longer than the gaps between pierces…
Geez…
me …simple man…me use wall switch…upgrade to timer…run good…
What he said!
Had to burn out a F16 present for a family member who is all about aviation. Found the STL on thingiverse, sliced it up and burned it out. Turned out decent I think. Pretty heavy though. The plane is 15" long. Was worried about finding little pieces in the 4" deep water so I used a -.135 overcut to leave a tab. Worked pretty good!
I think so too. Is this on fireshare?
I’ve worked in the aerospace industry for most of my career. Still do.
I’m partial to the F16. Work for a company that made the external lighting.Moved to Texas where we made them NVG Compatible.
Just for a sanity check this morning, I ran my usual test on 16g Galv Steel sheet. I can live with those numbers.
It’s not on file share, but I can upload it here for you. My sister is a huge aviation buff and has a full size VR simulator in her basement. Has basically all the cockpit controls from an F16 and an Apache. It’s pretty cool! She used to work on simulators for the military.
Should just have to delete the .pdf off the end of this file. It wouldn’t let me upload.dxf
f16 v2 flat.dxf.pdf (500.6 KB)
You get much smoke cutting galvanized? I have a bunch of it laying around but never cut it. I’ve welded miles of guard rail fencing in our feedlot and always hate being around it.
Yes, and if you breathe in any, it feels like you’re coming down with a cold. That’s why I’m fussy about the extractor fan right by the machine. It does a great job of whisking it all away.
Wow, simulator in the basement.
Thanks for the .dxf
If you fell bad after cutting galvanized metal drink milk it takes that out of your system.
The milk thing is an old wives tale that has been proven wrong over and over. The only way to avoid poisoning from breathing zinc fumes, is to not breathe zinc fumes.
Nice. Even a modified design to suit your needs.
Did you use good magnets or angry magnets?
I made a thing where the good magnets were not quite up to the task with the leverage and the weight, and the angry magnets were excessive, and had to split it 50/50.
the magnets hold ok-ish, good for right now. I may end up getting some different ones in the future.
Try some Neo magnets about 1-1/2 " diameter on one side - back.
Looking Good
