I bought this HF side cabinet for $99, want to mount it to my welding cart. Unfortunately, my cart’s top isn’t as high as a US General tool chest. I cut an extension plate, powder coated it then bolted it all together. Works and looks great. See 10ga cut video above.
Nice work!!
I finally got one of these cut out. Was planning on getting them all done over the holiday weekend…. But ended up spending a couple days with my dad at the hospital. And spent the day with him at home yesterday. Wife graciously allowed me some shop time today to de-tox a little.
That’s beefy!
Your cut directions are reversed, torch should be cutting counterclockwise on holes and clockwise on outside cut. Or did camera reverse view?
Damn, you’re right! I better fix that. Thanks for the tip ( I just learned about this last week.)
I guess it’s not causing you any issues, but it looks like you have your torch clamped lower than forum wisdom advises. If it’s tightened down in that vicinity, it can restrict internal part movement.
BTW, I have that same PW 225 TIG welder. I love it! So smooth. The SMAW (stick) function is also really smooth. I had very little experience in either when I bought it about 2 years ago. Only had been MIG welding prior.
Very nice layout on the face and I am an analog fan due to lower expense for repairs.
+1
I also have it and have no past experience with tig so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I definitely need more practice.
My garden shaman got the back of his head and neck today. He’s huge! Clearly his 5’ tall body frame is inadequate. His new shoulder height will be about 6.5’, he’ll top out around 8’ tall. I could wear him as a mask, my head easily fits inside but he’s 15lbs.
No problem, Craig.
Next cuts you make on table like to know if cuts improved with change.
You know Craig, your are starting to look a lot like your work!
You mean 2 dimensional and rusty. I can’t disagree with that!
My boss was gifted an Epiphone Les Paul junior, his first electric guitar. Asked if he could borrow an amp…well maybe. Years ago, I bought a broken Marshall VS30R (op amp) amp with a botched repair job. Easy fix, got it going this morning. It was pulled from a combo cabinet, which I didn’t get. So it’s open top need a cover.

Used Gold Ore Black powder coat, the gold speckles match the amp’s control panel.
I did see an interesting phenomenon cutting the heat vent slots needing further investigation. I’m using a sheetcam rule that slows down feed rate within .5” of pierce. Every slot shows a little problem. It doesn’t matter for this piece because it’s just some junk I had in the garage that I’m going to give to my boss.
Did you use the heat/thermal dispersion setting (what ever it is called) in SheetCAM? But you use Fusion 360…nevermind.
I suspect there was some warping of the metal causing some wiggle to the lines. The bottom is perfect but the top did it nearly every time.
I had the sheetcam thermal setting on.
New machine in the shop! …daughter asked what it is, I said “think emery board, overdosed on steroids”
Hahahaha
