A imagine having a CNC plasma table is indespensible for this project! So many cool things you could do!

We were referred to the owner of a Psychiatry practice. Opening new office and wanted a more artistic take on his business card logo:

Had some great design conversations and we landed on something very rustic, raised lighthouse component, fasteners. Nice to work with someone with a creative bent.

We had a good vector file - only needed a few things cleaned up. Added holes for fasteners. 1/8" steel.

We had some salvage stock outside. Been weathering for years. Unfortunately, it is 3/16" 4130 plate. Kinda spendy to replace…but the project meant we could turn metal into money. We did some stipple painting for a subtle rendition of his logo color (but mostly rusted off…rustic). The patina is natural - went over it with a copper brush to remove flakes. Still very durable. Love the movement/texture.

Had to fabricate the threaded standoffs on the lathe (needed narrow to hide under the logo and wanted to 1/4 x 20 for the head size). Then had to clean up the surface where the standoffs would be welded. Used the mill to give us a clean 1/2" circle.

Found a rusted 1/8" sheet and cleaned it up. If you zoom in you can still see a lot of texture in the metal. Good contrast with the logo - still rustic.

Nice installation. Customer flipped out he was so happy with it. .

Project for the shop. We wanted more flexibility and a 3rd hand for the downdraft table/grinding station.

We designed a new table top that could integrate electromagnets (the kind used for door locks). Integrated the electronics into the cabinet and an external switch. Cut on the XR (which did an amazing job by the way).

In this video we’re using a two-handed metal finisher on an outsize piece. Notice how far the work piece overhangs. And no sliding around even with aggressive grit and pressure. This was not easy to do before. The magnets provide ample hold-down strength. We really like this solution.

Been tweaking my music system again over the last month (passive crossover rebuild and an auto-bias board install in my tube amp), a never ending project I’ve on for the last 35-years.
Gathering bits and pieces for an AC voltage regulator i’m building. the control panel of which will be plasma-cut from 1.5mm aluminum sheet. :rofl: :rofl: :beers:
