Hypertherm 45xp sync hand torch wiring question

Hello, new to the forum. Trying to rewire my hand torch to act as a machine torch. When I open the connector to move the violet wire from 6 to 8 I cannot. There is a black wire in 8. A brn in 9 and a grey in 10. For this machine is there a different position to make it a machine torch or has this been changed so it can no longer be done? At the torch end these wires go to a small circuit board that allows control of the amps with a button.

Thanks,
Scrumpy

Welcome,

If I am not mistaken you can not change the wiring on the SYNC models. The chip that controls all the data that is sent to the main controller will set a fault code and won’t let it work.

Welcome to the forum.

I would trust George on this. He knows what he is talking about.

There are a few threads that talk of other options rather than messing with the actual torch. Not sure if the same would apply for the sync torch. That is a whole new ball game.

And this one:

And this one:

I will add: if you can afford it, the machine torch is really nice to have. It is easier to work around and easier to inspect and change consummables.

Thank you, I was afraid that was the response i was going to receive. Ok, start saving for a dedicated machine torch.
