BigDaddy, you are a wise shopper. I just placed another order for the 5 inch disc.
Here is the math.
By the time the disc is 3.5 inches, it is basically DONE. So we will consider the 3.5 inches unusable. The area is 1.75x1.75x3.14 = 9.6 sq inches.
The 4.5 inch disc has an area of:
2.25x2.25x3.14 = 15.9 sq inches minus the 9.6 inches of unusable area gives you 6.3 sq inches of usable grinding material.
The 5 inch dis has an area of:
2.5x2.5x3.14 = 19.6 sq inches minus the 9.6 inches of unusable area gives you 10 sq inches of usable grinding material.
That is 59% more grinding material for the same price.
ā¦I am exhausted ā¦itās math!
this sums it up.
Wow that is a real money management tip. I like the idea but donāt forget a 5" puts the disk closer to your fingers when new if running on a 4.5" grinder.
Do they make a 5" angle grinder?
I have two of them. Both Milwaukee. But it is interesting, when you search for āgrindersā or āangle grindersā on the Home Depot website, they are mostly all 4-1/2 inch models. But if you specifically search for ā5 inch angle grindersā you get a slew of them:
Now Jim if it isnāt a metabo it isnāt a grinder right?
I recently bought two M18 Milwaukee 5" grinders. After disabling the ridiculous safety button, Iām happy. I do admit that Metabo is a superior product.
These safety features that they try to protect the idiots are now borderline ridiculous.
We was always lucky to get a year out of a Milwaukee. It was always the armature going out. We opted for metabo and never looked back. My only fault to them is the threaded holes for the handles.
I donāt have that brand. I think I have five Milwaukee grinders and several other brands. They are all over the place!
But this stupid āONā switch button should be a Meme of its own. If you can get this button pressed in with gloves on, you have really accomplished something:
Metabo is a German made grinder very durable other than the handle. They are not cheap though . I usually do as @Bigdaddy2166 and bypass most safety switchs.
I had a DeWalt with a butterfly switch I hated it. I have a nice scare on my arm from that thing.
Super glue. Problem solved press it in, glue it, and forget it. It is the most ridiculous design ever.
I have one of those. It is set up as a āpermanentā chop saw for rebar.
I have 1 of these
and 3 of the smaller HF (7A?) ones.
Along with a lowly Dewalt. They all work great. My granddaughter canāt hold the big one (flappy disk one), so she uses a smaller one. The only grip I have about my smaller HF grinders in the On/Off switch sucks. Fortunately they changed to a paddle switch recently which works much better.
Neither can Mechanics.
It was determined when I got printed for my Form 4, I have 2 that are not scarred, and 2 that gave the officer fits. Almost had to go get the old fashion ink rather than the scanner.
This should be @holla2040 new project. This is right up your alley.
I laugh a lot about that. I had a job after highschool that I had to have a federal background check and be fingerprinted. That was just to sell firearms in Virginia.
I was fingerprinted 3 times before the ATF accepted my prints. The third was a fancy xerox type scannerā¦
My fingerprints look way different now due to constant burns and cutsā¦
Oh retailā¦ We had to be fingerprinted and a federal background check ā¦ Virginia is the California of the East Coastš¤¦.
I donāt have a firearms license but a seller identification that is state issued.
liked the first robot.
