I’m a welder/ fabricator and I own a crossfire pro. I was wondering if there is any particular reason why I can’t just build a larger table with longer ways/threaded rods and turn my table into a 4x8 or even bigger?
I know I can build the mechanical side of it. I just don’t know if the electronics will allow it to cut files bigger than the standard 3x4
PS I will ignore any comments to just buy an XR

I don’t think the pro cares how big of a file is loaded into it.
What kind of lead screws are you going to go with?
Firecontrol and the electronics don’t care how big the table is.
The limitation on expanding is the lead screws. They will whip badly if you go much more than the current size. You can change the Y screws to 1/2-10 5 start and go to 4 feet on the Y axis. Much more than that will cause problems.
You may have already read some of the other topics on here where people have done similar things:
Here is someone that used a rotary nut. This individual is still quite active on the forum:
Good luck with your project and welcome to the forum.
Rotary nut project is back to the drawing board at the moment. Had a pile of cutting projects getting delayed by it. Need to increase the rigidity of the bearing mount. It is the solution, it just needs some more work. There was zero whip at 300ipm but vibration from the mounting really hurt the cut quality.
