Connecting Crossfire Pro with THC to Hypertherm Powermax 45XP

I currently have the Hypertherm Powermax 45XP with CPC port. I have the remote pendent that only connects to pins 3 and 4 of the CPC port. Will I need the machine interface cable with voltage divider instead to be able to connect the remote start and the THC? I want to make sure I have everything I need before my Crossfire Pro arrives in January.

I would think just connect the 2 wires coming from the pro to pins 3 and 4.

Yes, but I bought the THC too and I think you need to use the other wires to pins 5 and 6 to connect the THC to the voltage divider. Just making sure so I can buy the machine interface cable before my Crossfire Pro arrives.

Was anything ever resolved with this? I have my pro set up and cutting, but only with ihs. I’m a little confused what I need to do to get the thc up and running.

I’m still waiting on the last box so I have not had the chance to set this up.

I have the 65 with the CNC cable for port I would like to know also

Connect the Red LS THC lead to your CPC pin #5 and the LS THC Black wire to your CPC pin #6.

They answered the question in another thread. There is an included cable that will attach to the VIM box and then the 2 wires attach to the CNC port. The THC doc has instructions too. The Hypertherm has a 50:1 divided signal (the 45 anyway, check your manual for the 65). That goes to the Div port on the VIM box. That means we don’t have to open the plasma box to get at the wiring for it.

I understand what to do now… my next question is how? Where do you get the pins to crimp/solder to the wires? Will I need any special tools?

The bottom item in this shot is the part number for the pins from Mouser Electronics. I’m not sure of the CPC plug your using and how it comes apart so I can’t advise on that. The full item list below is the pins and the CPC plug I used.

Would it be a bad idea to just tin the wires with solder and put them in the plug?

“Bad idea” is relative. It would very likely work fine but I would never do something like that just for the piece of mind knowing that your setup is as dialed in correctly as possible.

@swizcore thank you for the advice… I think I found a couple pins locally. Does anyone know the exact name of the pins and possibly the diameter that the hypertherm plug uses… just incase I have to order them

Here is the data sheet for the pins.

@swizcore thank you!

Ok. So i have a hypertherm 65 without the cpc port. Will i be able to wire it to the table with langmuir supplied cables or will i need something else.

If the 65 is a recent purchase with warranty you may want to opt for the CPC port, which you can purchase as an add on. Otherwise you’ll want to follow instructions for connecting to raw voltage LS-THC User Guide | Langmuir Systems , and understand the risks involved. Or just purchase the CPC port and not deal with raw voltage outside the cutter.

Ok. Thanks. Im comfortable with going under the hood.

Hi @Brock in addition to what was already said you might want to also check out Hypertherm’s guide for attaching to raw voltage here: https://www.hypertherm.com/Download?fileId=HYP174006&zip=False

We link this page in our THC user guide as well.
