Bar sink drain dimple die

Its the counter sunk dimple I am interested in.

You certainly can… It is so long ago I don’t remember why I opted for the hole saw in the moment but… I think it was because I already had the hole saw on hand and I hadn’t ever cut stainless before and I didn’t have any scraps on hand to do a test cut… and jogging the machine around to find the center of the hole would take me longer than cutting with the hole saw. I have seen others have cut the hole with the plasma cutter as you suggest.

You are in the right spot for that… :+1:To use the die on this thread you will need to make the hole in the pan larger to accommodate the bar sink drain. @ScorchedEarthMW was responding to a post from last year (August of 22) where I mentioned I had used a hole saw to cut the bigger hole. Others have used their plasma cutter.

So you’re not talking about the race then? No rest days between the rim-to-rim runs when they do that. (I have no idea how anyone runs rim-to-rim much less rim-to-rim-to-rim in a day.)

A truly amazing feat! Last time I did rim to rim… the next day I wondered if I would ever walk normally again. You can always tell who did R2R the previous day… all are sporting a good case of the Grand Canyon Shuffle!

We have an ULTRA 100 that is run through our mountains. The 75-mile aid station is at our Patrol Building at the local ski resort. Aways impressive to see the athletes come through. Even more impressive are the non-athletes running on pure grit and determination.

Looks like I’ll be getting them after @stang84g after messaging him.

@gsfab I sent you a message about the dies in case you still have them and done using them. I’d like to get on the list. Let me know. Thanks.

Glad to hear you got your done. How did it turn out?

Mine is working fine but I haven’t hard pipped from bottom the drains yet been too busy but hopefully soon I can tackle it.

Had to use a rubber coupler to attach the 1-1/2" drain tube to a 1" PVC elbow but it’s not leaking. I went with 1" PVC as it’s the closest in size to the 1-1/2" drain mast. Ran two 90 degree elbows with a ball valve for draining. I just have the regular Crossfire so didn’t see the need for a recirculation tank as I can drain it into a 7 gallon bucket.

Had to buy a 15/16" socket and a 1" iron pipe to extend my breaker bar to get the dies to work properly. The drain doesn’t sit perfectly flush and I had to buy an additional rubber gasket for the bottom because the threads weren’t long enough. That and some silicone under the drain and it’s working fine.

Yeah I had to get my son to help me with tightening down the dies cuz I also had to use a big pipe for leverage to get it to press. I don’t drain my tables much since I haven’t done a whole lot of cutting yet so I just have 2-7 gal buckets under the drains with a pond pump in one for refilling.

The dies have been sitting at the post office ready for @stang84g to pick up since December 29th. I just got notification that they would be returned to me if they aren’t picked up. I don’t want to pay twice for shipping these so please pick them up.

Yeah that sucks. Hopefully @stang84g gets them picked up or passed on if they aren’t ready for them.

I am at the table portion of my build and would like to get added to the list for the dies when they get down to me. Please let me know if that is still possible.

I picked them up today. We were out of town for the holidays and just returned. I hope to use the dies this weekend and get them shipped out next week.

Im ready to hope in line for these dies. Im in Ohio.

Also this is a pretty long thread. Just to clarify so I have the correct drain on hand, this die is for the Menards bar drain?

I also plan to ise the plasma to cut the holes what size needs cut?

Thanks

Scott

Reading back through here post by post. Did you dimple your desin with an alternatine method. If yes could you elaborate? Thanks

Just to keep order in here, I should be getting them from stang84g and will be sending them to mech_engineer when I’m done.

I used the die in this thread. There is a second die set in a different thread.

I used a bar sink drain from Home Depot
