Tell them the one about crashing on the border of two countries. Great debate goes on for where the survivors should be buried.
Be safe on these travels. I won’t be able to check on your homes progress because my stupid robot mower got stuck again. Gotta travel across the state again.
I have been kinda busy trying to get caught up with work. I still owe @TinWhisperer some hvac pics but here are a couple of pics of the progress
Most of the windows are now in and doors are going in maybe today. The last door showed up yesterday and the framers came back to make the door and window openings the right size on the ones they messed up.
Septic tank going in. The contractor that did the driveway and the sidewalk dug the hole. He misunderstood the depth dimensions I gave him. I double checked it the night before and he was not deep enough, and it was the exact length and width of the tank. I had asked for it to be over dug to make it easier to install, so I ended up digging the hole late the night before the tank was supposed to show up. I got it all graded out with the gravel just before the truck showed up.
View out the loft windows. My favorite room in the house.
I am hoping to get the frost to thaw so I can get the drain field in… I set up the farmer rig of all farmer rigs. I made a tent out of hay tarps, sprinkler pipe and bailing twine and am running 3 torpedo heaters under it. Hoping to get it thawed enough to turn it over tomorrow.
Ill get some pics later.
Little guy has been watching to many westerns.
The girls better watch out when this little guy gets older. He went down the line kissing every dog.
Rheem is decent stuff. I do quite a few rheem installations.
The high efficient natural gas furnace really hasn’t changed since about the mid-90 except for some of the control systems so everyone’s got their units figured out. And the baseline parts are made by a lot of the same third party companies. Everyone has a 10-year warranty with proper registration 25 on heat exchangers.
I’ve installed a lot of different brands they’re all about the same thing and their issues come in waves.
Got the ground thawed enough to turn over and till for the at grade drain field. I had my doubts. In my mind it was similar odds to Hail Mary pass from your own 35 with 3 seconds left.
The ground was frozen about 4-6 inches before I deployed the tent.
8 sprinkler pipes, 6 tanks of propane, 4 hay tarps, 3 torpedo heaters. And a roll of baling twine… 4 saw horses, 3 roller stands 2 sticks of 3” angle iron and a left over ijoist.
Plowed it last night. 3 bottom plow with 110 hp John Deere with 4wd and posi traction. Pulled a couple of wheelies breaking through some of the frosty spots. First time pulling a wheelie in a tractor for my 5 year old.
That is a mansion! What a building. You know we all want an invite to the open house: Do you need and address sign out of metal as a house warming gift?
The weather can really change the direction of labor and funds.
It looks bigger than it is. It’s all above ground and garage makes it look bigger. Sans the bonus room over the garage it’s pretty much the same size as our last house. The upgrade is 2 acres on a dirt road vs 1/2 acre in suburbia.
Compared to the other 3 houses that just went up or are under construction on our road ours looks like cottage.
I am planning a backlit address sign over the front porch. If I get the time.
Of course you are all invited. I’ve been trying to get Tom to come skiing with me for years… maybe this will be the year. In the words of the late great Warren Miller. “If you don’t do it this year, you’ll be one year older when you do.”
