No worries, I’ll loan it to you.
Thanks for the chart. I had forgot about the modified wrap.
Do you have an original Panduit GS2B? I found one at a yard sale for $3 about 30 yrs ago. They are not cheap
I’ve worked in telecom for 30+ years, wrapped lots of wire! Of course it’s almost all fiber these days. For many years, these were my most used tools:
I’ve got a story to tell you, let me figure out the best venue.
still some of my most used tools in IT Now!
I still work in telecom and use my punch down tool often. Haven’t used a wrap tool in many years. Now it’s all fiber scoping.
@holla2040 i have several wrap tools I would send you one for nothing if you need one. Just let me know.
I use the punch down tool maybe once every month or two. Only for alarming, all the traffic is on fiber.
@Upstategrowguy77 @Bill_A I have a question for you fiber guys. I have a customer that’s designing power data collection circuitry from high-voltage power lines (~1600VDC). They want me to explore using fiber for data comm (very slow data rate 115Kbs. Is there an outdoor panel mount fiber connector that has an IP68 rating? Data runs are short 400’, want to use fiber for ground isolation and safety. Using radios in this application has proven to be completely unreliable. Thanks.
We use Rosenberg equipment for our outdoor applications. I will get you some more information tomorrow when I’m at work.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.

Something like this?

Man you don’t mess around, seems like you just got that a few weeks ago. Are we going to see a video on what it took to set that all up?
I am thinking it will be hard to go back to plasma after cutting with that. Is it as easy to program as the plasma table?
You could look into Corning Optitap. We have a lot of them in underground vaults and aerial and have had very good results.

Well it really depends on your fiber connection needs really. If you’re needing multiple connection points you can use a box like this one.
If it’s just for a single fiber then yes a small sleeve type connection would be fine. Like this one
Hope this help
This is great option, thanks Bill!
Thanks, this is an option that might also work.
Regardless of type used, they should have a ground drain point a few feet above the highest human reachable point. The optics won’t conduct electricity, but, as Ben Franklin proved, a wet cable will…
That’s the good part about the Optitap connections, the connector itself is a waterproof o-ring seal. We have them submerged in underground vaults, for weeks sometimes, when it rains and have yet to see one wet inside.
