Anyone come across this before? One of the bearing blocks is backwards on one of my x axis rails. I’ve submitted a ticket, still waiting to hear back. I know the instructions say over and over not to remove a bearing block as reassembly is near impossible, but what about sliding the backwards block off the rail directly to the other x axis rail, then sliding it back to the original the right way around? I’m sure that Langmuir will send a new rail, but I would like to try this in the mean time to keep the build going. Thoughts?
I assemble NSK linear bearing like these everyday for my day job. I wouldn’t hesitate to do what you are describing. Be careful and align the rails butting up without a gap.
I’ve seen somebody mention this before. I believe they just butted the rails up to each other, and slid one block on to the other rail, and vice versa…as you described.
Thanks guys, worked perfectly
Glad to see it worked.
Just for others who may see this thread: the individual blocks come with a plastic guide inside them. I’ve had to remove one on a different machine, and I just did the same thing, except I slid the block back onto the plastic guide. Worked great.
Now, ballnuts… they are a bear, and I hate removing one and replacing it. Lots of grief.
My ballnuts came with cardboard tubes that work the same way. Really handy!
