Would this cut with fine consumables? Yes it will

I am currently have these brackets laxer cut and they come out very nice as you would expect.
I would by a new torch or maybe even a new cutter if I thought they would come out decent.

The 2 center holes are just for plug welds and the outside holes are for a pin so there is some room for
error. disregard the tolerance as this was for laser cutting.

If you have fine cut consumables and think you can cut this and it will come out decent let me know I will pay you to cut one and ship it to me.

Have you considered “pecking” the center of the holes and drilling them out with a drill bit?

I have not tried it yet but this is my theory to CAM this in Fusion 360:

Take to long, I can get these laser cut for .91 for 700.

Good point! I did not realize you were making more than one let alone hundreds!!! :joy:

Looking at your print, I think our RazorCut 45 with std consumables would pass. Especially in 14ga. I’ll pull out our gauge pins and make some reference cuts.

I have a RW45 with standard consumables but never tried due to the size of the holes.

I should be able to have cuts completed by tomorrow. I’ll shoot you some pics of the finish, plus what settings we used.

I think I can accomplish this. I dont have any 14 gauge flat stock but can cut it out of some 14 gauge tubing i have. do you happen to have the drawing in svg or dxf?

Feed Optimization - Defaults except 72 IPM
Lead In - 0 radius, 90 deg, .07 length
No Lead out
Pierce Clearance - 0

What cutter and consumables?

I wold say that’s perfect

RazorCut 45 with consumables from George’s Plasma Shop
51206 Cutting Tips
52574 Electrodes

I also lowered the cut height from the default of .062 to .055 as shown in the Fusion File.

Tweak your kerf to 0.042 and you’ve got it! Great!

EDIT: Change 0.047 to 0.042. Went the wrong direction… :flushed:

Are those fine cut? And was that at 45 amps and 70 psi?

You shouldn’t need fine cut to cut that part. The holes are larger than twice the kerf width of a standard nozzle. Fine cut doesn’t make a cleaner cut, it just has a narrower kerf.

Those are the std consumables. To the best of my knowledge, there are no fine cut consumables for the RW45.

And yes, 45 amps & 70 psi. “XP” style hand torch on a 2x2 w/ XL & THC.

@TomWS If I need to move .001, wouldn’t I tweak it .0005? :slight_smile:

Whoops, I got thrown off by your caliper readout with the larger size numbers thinking the first digit was units, not tenths. Scratch my suggestion, these are very good results.

I thought maybe you had a different torch

Thanks for cutting this I will give it a try, I would have never tried with holes that small.
