Who at Langmuir is going to address and fix the problems with the Titan?

I think you can see that the writing is already on the wall. This is what the beginning of a legacy product looks like.

I don’t want to start a disagreement. Can you explain this rationally? My issue with this is one company or a small group doesn’t need full control over things. This would eventually drive the cost higher. My thinking is if Autodesk completely dominated the market the free version would disappear. That would crush many weeks warriors that do this just to tinker.

Yeah if they buy sheet cam they will raise it’s price.

Absolutely they would or even dismantle it. Apply that logic to oil companies, grocery stores, and health care systems. The companies are ultimately the winner.

yes so they can dismantle it, take anything valuable from it and include it in the Fusion ecosystem.

That may be. I think Autodesk sees the value in the free version it allows people to get their feet wet. Also there are many many many people that abuse Autodesk’s free version terms and conditions. There’s a lot of hobbyists out here making over $1000 a year using fusion and not paying their fair share into the collective. So if anything’s gonna kill the free version it’s gonna be the abusers of the free version.

Until there is no competition. I am sorry that logically makes no sense. Ask any small business owner what they thing about large company dominance. Then on the consumer side no body wins. I can see this very thing happening in my area large corporations are driving small businesses out.

Super interesting discussion but also waaay off topic! Any chance this could continue on a fusion/inventor/sheet cam thread?

Did not understand the question? I asked how many hours you have logged on your titan? your reply was “I have 39xxxx hours of custom machine experience” which has zero to do with my question, which is also zero - because you do not have a Titan. I do not understand why you felt the need to insult me for suggesting a set of light curtains cost $200 and somehow twisting that into “which well since you know everything there is to know about machine design then why don’t you XXX” ??? Can you tell me how you got from “lights curtains can be purchased for $200” to “i know everything about machine design” ?? I never once made that claim.- I’m sure you are a smart guy and have a lot of experience in machine design and I take nothing away from you and your contributions to this form. I apologize for suggesting light curtains cost $200 if that makes any difference to you. It just seems a bit odd for someone who doesn’t have a Titan, has no experience with this UI, and no experience with the multiple problematic machine operation issues to be dismissive of the difficulty the rest of us are trying to resolve.

Hey zandern, yes - a feature request thread was created, but it was never pinned for some reason. https://forum.langmuirsystems.com/t/25t-users-software-feature-requests-and-issues/42727/48

agreed, interesting, but should be moved over to \the fusion/cad/cam thread

I’m here because I value the community and I’ve spent a long time helping people troubleshoot their machines. Owning a Titan isn’t a prerequisite for understanding how to fix one, and I’ve even helped you in the past—your oil pan issue being one example. The original thread is hard to reference now since many comments were removed, but what I do remember is that things started off on a tense note. You challenged my knowledge about light curtains, and months after the discussion had ended, you returned and implied that my lack of Titan hours somehow disqualified my advice.

My response reflects the tone you brought into the conversation. If we want respect, we should offer it. I’ve been here for years without issues, contributing wherever I can, and I only addressed your comment because you questioned my qualifications.

I had no intention of revisiting this thread, but you brought it back up today, so I’m simply clarifying my position.

I joined this forum because I own a Titan. I joined this forum because I value the input and experiences of other Titan users who share what they have learned interacting with this machine. I joined this forum to share my many contributions, repairs and modifications. If you have never once used the UI or made any bends on a Titan, then your opinion is obviously limited. Dude, you got triggered over the cost of light curtains? that does not justify you attacking me and claiming “I know everything there is to know about machine design” ?? really dude? come on man, you know you got triggered and were out of line with that one. I do respect your knowledge and your input, and I’ve liked many of your posts and thanked you for your advise several times in other comments - so idk where your hostile attitude originated from and it’s certainly not warranted justified or deserving of respect. Many of my posts and comments are dissatisfied with the UI and problems i’ve had with getting my Titan operational and functioning properly - that is the nature of problem solving.

If you consider them my posts tense, then that is because you are on the outside looking in, instead of being one of us. If you owned a Titan, then you would understand the frustration of having to ‘click ok’ multiple times for the same single operation. If you owned a Titan you would understand how many time you are prompted “you are about to XX, click ok again” for every single movement or op. If you have ever used a Titan, you would understand the absurd redundancy and friction involved in basic machine operation with the UI. If you have actually run production parts on a Titan, the you would feel the sore tendons and ligaments in your feet after bending 450 parts with a two tap foot pedal requirement. You are free to opine your observations and solutions all you want, have at it, but you have no direct experience operating this machine, so your opinion is limited at best.

If you ever used a TItan, then you would not have suggested : “just put light curtains on it” as a viable solution? Install light curtains by overriding the safety interface within the UI without access to the source code to integrate them? really? This isn’t Mach3 or Arduino Richard, if it was, then I would not be pleading with LS to fix these issues, and my machine would be operational.

This will be my last comment relating to this subject as I don’t want to be falsely accused, insulted and attacked for ‘challenging your knowledge’ on this or any other subject. Noteworthy is the fact that I have 22 years more than you of mechanical design / custom machine / industrial automation design / fabrication / welding certs / NDT certs / forging /machining / CNC programming and heavy line production. My name is one several plaques, documents, certifications, awards and paperwork - none of which really means :poop: when it gets real. I just don’t feel the need to tell everyone about it, brag, flex, or prove anything to anyone. I am just trying to get my Titan working the best that I can and share my solutions and modifications. I don’t want to argue with anyone, and I am sorry this thread detracted from the generous spirit of this forum. I wish you the best Richard Beck.
