Which machine should I select when using Meshcam Pro to generate GCode from STL file? If this helpful the video explaining the use of the software is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5INRtyrKqw. Our high school students simply do not have the knowledge and skill set to develop the GCode from scratch.
you can only use sheetcam or fusion to create gcode.
What machine are you generating code for? Plasma cutter or milling machine?
You can’t use an stl file for either one.
For plasma cutting you will need a 2 dimensional DXF or SVG file.
For milling operations, you need a .step file or some other solid 3d model, not a mesh.
Edit: it looks like Meshcam is for turning stl files into g code for milling. You will need to contact them to see if they have a post processor that will work with the MR1 mill, if that is what you have. If you post your question in the MR1 section, maybe someone can help you there. You might be able to use a generic GRBL post.
Meshcam will create the GCode
GRBL was what I was looking at as the best option for the MR-1 machine.
well you didn’t specify what langmuir product you were using so we’re assuming you’re talking about the plasma tables.
Maybe try to move this post to the MR-1 section? you’ll get more specific help there.
You’ll have to check with other MR1 owners to see if a generic GRBL post will work.
It is a GRBL based control, but I’m sure there are some commands that may not be recognized by Cutcontrol. There may also be commands that it needs that are not included in a generic GRBL post.
