I know it has something to do with my limit switches. Does this mean they are tripped and need reset? How do I clear it if so? Thanks
If the machine will allow you to, just jog Y axis in the negative direction until they trip. It will set another alarm that you can clear and they will be off.
I’ll give it a try in the morning. Thank you.
@NukeTownRods Those are the limit switch and probing indicators so if they are lit up, then one of those circuits are open. Y2/Z share the same limit switch indicator so it looks like either your machine is up against the Y or the Z stop. If it’s not near either of the stops, then feel free to DM me and we’ll go through some troubleshooting steps.
Mine does this when the switches stick from coolant. Usually accompanied by a “failed to clear limit switch “ on homing. I give them a squirt with distilled water and then blow out with compressed air and then they are good for a couple of weeks.
Bill, Now I have upgraded to Metrcol CSK087B-L micro switches. They are liquid-proof but do require mounting blocks to be fabricated. Now Amazon has since come out with a direct bolt-on replacement liquid-proof switch that is about $10 apiece. Joinfworld Micro Limit Switch with Lever 6A 12V DC Waterproof Sealed Roller Lever Microswitch SPDT 3 PIN 5A 250VAC with Pre-Wired - 2PC Amazon.com. The wires come from the sides, but it would not interfere with anything. Langmuir, I thought, was coming out with a liquid-proof style, but nothing has been said anymore about it. Needless to say, I have not had one single issue with limit switches that wasn’t self-induced.
How fragile are those metrol switches any idea?
Pretty tough. 50x better than the original.
They have small LEDs on the wire about 6 inches from the switch. I cut off my leds to shorten the leads to connect to the Langmuirs stock wiring harness. 5 stars but require a mounting block to be fabricated for each one. Note they will not fit on the z location. I still use the original switch there.
I don’t use it daily, so it’s just a minor inconvenience. If I were using it daily I would definitely put in better switches.
Heads up that our machines ship with waterproof switches now, shoot us an email @Bill_A and we’ll send you some.
We also carry Fusion coolant exclusively now since the Synthetic Lubricoolant caused staining on aluminum and issues with the limit switches.
Email the support@langmuirsystems.com address?
Yes, that’s the one.
