It’s possibly a continuity issue. The screws carry 5 volts through the outer case. If there’s still anodize in the threaded holes it can cause the issue you’re seeing. Our team should be chasing all the threads with a tap to remove the anodize but it’s possible we are missing that.
Thank you. I will disassemble and update.
Now to adjust run out again but tapping the holes took care of the issue. Thanks
Thanks for following up, I need to reinforce the importance of this to our techs.
Helpful hint when updating the probe if you have fat fingers and lack patience like I do; install the ball studs loosely to the pcb before dropping it into the housing. Much less tedious.
One issue I had after completion while testing the new probe on a piece of raw stock was during the Z axis routine; I had set my seek rate to 20 ipm because impatient and it threw an error several times until I changed it to 15 ipm. Tried changing retract distance first to no avail. Don’t remember ever having that issue prior with the old probe.
Other than that, great job Langmuir. Compared g54/55 zeros with only 5 tenths error on one axis as promised. Looking forward to putting it to use
@langmuir-daniel What about no lights at all?
Can someone link the instructions for the v1 to v2 kit? I can’t find them anywhere. Thank you.
Thank you!
Just for your information. My conversion of the MR1 v1 probe to V2 has not given me one bit of trouble.
Thanks for your help. I just finished mine and it went smoothly. However the link in the PDF you shared to adjust the runout isn’t working. Do you by chance have a link to that as well?
I’m at my mother-in-law’s house. I can’t get the phone to copy that section. I will hook you up in a little bit.
I was assuming the instructions for dialing in the runout would be newer. I’m not sure why I thought that, the v1 and v2 are adjusted the same exact way. So that link probably just goes to the original video I would imagine? If that’s the case, then I know where to find it. I appreciate it, thank you.
It’s there in the last couple of sentences. Click on the icon. Ah, hell, it doesn’t work for me either.
Just loosen the back screws, just a hair. The whole adjustment is a push-pull setup. Loose one side and tighten the other till you get it dialed in. There is only a mm or 2 of movement, so don’t go crazy. Then tighten the 4 bolts on the back.
Thank you so much for the information.
