I have the same problem. Clear space in the shop is like a vacuum for projects and new tools.

Oh Dear,

I am order# 69576

I just purchased a new CNC Mill yesterday. I need to make room for that!
Now I need to anticipate an email any day and make room for that too!

Any word on the hole punch attachment and die prices? Also what all was in your order to reach $9500 i got a little sticker shock when i saw that…

I have all the options: one of every die and punch, two of the four-way dies, and no word on hole punches. Shipping was $800.

Speaking of my order. The parts that did ship are arriving tomorrow (everything but the cnc backgauge and 30° acute punches and dies). Keep in mind I payed for my order on the 10th, it shipped on the 13th, and is arriving the 16th. That’s pretty speedy for a 1400lb delivery as far as I’m concerned. Granted it’s not like I live in WA or ME, but still.

Every package I’ve ever received from Fedex was in really bad shape. More than half of these packages had to have claims filed. All the items that I’ve had to return from companies over the years have been from Fedex. I will never ship any of my products with Fedex. I ship hundreds of packages a year with USPS, and maybe 20 with ups. Every time a Fedex truck pulls into my driveway my heart sinks. :frowning:

I agree 100%. They went from the best to the worst over the last several years. They are mostly contract carriers now and don’t give a rat’s ass about your package. @Richarddbeck83

ABF came through and delivered me a machine today and everything was in good shape except for a tear on one side of the box that only got through half of the cardboard. So, absolutely nothing to be worried about.

After getting the box off and taking stock of things, the only thing to note so far is some leaked hydraulic fluid.

youll be able to make any size from 1-36"

if you need small increments id 3d print a spacer.

You only need 33" of dies to fill the bed, not 36". You only need one of each size and a spare 2" punch and die to max out the width.

Technically you are correct however you can achieve a 36” bend in the press by overhanging a long section of punch and die by 1.5” on either end.

The press won’t be able to bend larger than probably 1/8” at best at that length so there is really no risk of a critical failure of tooling with such a short overhang and relatively insignificant tonnage.

On the tooling, I was originally going to just go all out and get everything. But, now I am thinking of just getting a few punches and dies and then filling out the catalog as needed.

Since this will be an auxiliary item in the shop and we currently do not know if and when we will be needing it. No need to dump more money then needed.

Any suggestions on what to get for a well rounded standard set of tooling?

What do you make most, stuff out of thick sheet metal or thin sheet metal? That’d be the easiest way to cut down on the tooling budget. The 4 way die, 25mm acute die and 30° acute punches would get you through a lot of projects, and for heavy work you could plasma cut segmented 35°HD dies yourself if you have a Crossfire.

Right now, we do no bending.
We are a CNC Router shop with Mills and 3D printers.
We are in plastics heavily but do some aluminum.
My initial thoughts was to get this to open up precision bending on Polycarbonate as well as Aluminum.
Thickness, might be up to 1/4" Aluminum.

HOWEVER, I also am partenered and partial owner of a Metal Fab shop that has a CNC plasma table.

So, we might be taking on that bending as well.

I was told by a press brake operator, to get the 88 degree goose neck 1 of ea. and 2 of the 16"
Same thing on the 4way die
He said this would cover 85% of what I would be bending. I like you, saw no sense in ordering tooling I may never use.
I too will order as needed if ever. Not like the shipping would be that outrages.

As I stated above, order one 16" and the pieces i listed. Having two 16" dies limits your capability and having pieces has no drawback in this case.

The issue with a full length die is when you want to bend a tab or feature in the opposite direction of another bend, it needs to overhang the die. If the die is full length it makes this difficult to achieve.

Langmuir charges next to nothing to make sectionalized pieces. Usually you pay a lot more to have a punch or die cut into fingers for you.

For those who were told about a month ago that your ship date would be August.

I just requested an update after being told in July it would ship in late August.

I am being told, “Your unit will likely be ready around the end of November. We appreciate your patience and understanding!”. Which I assume means most likely next year.

Before people get mad at me for sounding negative and telling me to request my deposit back, I am not mad or writing to complain about it. I am only posting because I’m pretty sure I am not the only one trying to do business planning, and I was planning on having this machine in the fourth quarter.

I am just a little disappointed that my delivery date slipped four months in a little over a month with absolutely zero communication. I often look at the forum to keep up and thought I would give others a heads-up if they are in the same position.
