Torch moves before voltage

I know its been talked about here alot, but I cannot get anything to work.
Its a new issue for me and it is frustrating as I have orders that I cannot get cut.
Razorweld cnc45 using Hypertherm consumables
Even if I use an old program that cut just fine, I now am getting the error.
I can manually trigger torch, it even fires and pierces 14 ga material, but when the torch moves the error comes up.

This is just another frustrating obstacle…ANY HELP WOULD BE GFREATLY APPRECIATED

Have you increased your pierce delay?

It makes sense that it happens with old programs because they tightened down on the pierce delay error detection in 20.6 I believe. Just do what the error message tells you to do and keep cutting.

Seems odd, updated everything and it worked fine…then now its shooting me the error.
I’ve increased the pierce delay in firecontrol, didn’t work.
I will see if changing it in sheetcam makes a difference…that’ll have to wait until tomorrow morning now that im at work.

do you have THC? if so try doing the THC test. also make sure the torch is low enough to touch the material and not prematurely trigger the IHS switch if the touch isn’t low enough which will put your pierce height at a higher distance to your material.

Yes, I have done all that. test 2 and 3 the torch didnt fire on first try though.

What is the base pierce delay you were using, and how much did you increase it?

base was .5…increased it in firecontrol 120%, still resulting in the error message

Increase it more. Keep going until it cuts.

@brownfox When I had that error, I increased it until eventually it told me that the delay was too long. If base is .5, then it’s up to 1.2 seconds. I think something besides the actual pierce delay is wrong.

No, 120% of .5 is .6.

I took him literally, but you are correct that the software won’t allow a value to be increased 120%. My bad.

I bring this up because I believe this same thing was said to me when I was new to this. I was having the same problem many others did with the hypertherm, using book specs and missing the beginning of the cut. You don’t realize how small that area of adjustment is when your pierce delay is short to begin with.
The baseline is 100% so he’s only saying he increased it by 20%

Back then I was saying I had it at 200% then it was pointed out that obviously 200% of .3 is still only .6. I had to go back into sheetcam and make my initial pierce delay longer to get more adjustability out of it.

@Jemejia you had all sorts of gremlins going on. I’ve never seen the delay too long message.

I have tried everything, still get the error!!

What did you increase your pierce delay to? What are you cutting and what speed are you cutting at?

Did you just switch to the hypertherm consumables? Try with the factory consumables.

I have found mine will do this if electrode isn’t seated right take it out and out back in

Increased PD to 1.2s, it will start then I get a voltage error.
I switched consumables from stock to hypertherm back to stock.

does the electrode spring back when you push on it? you should be able to push it in some and spring back to normal without any friction.

I will have to check that, I know it did before I put put the torch completely together.

OK, I changed consumables (AGAIN). Set my PD to 1.2s, actually was able to successfully cut out the
‘F Bomb’ for practice run.
I then set out to make one of the signs (found in fireshare), set the PD to 1.2s again…it cut!!! Although It blew out most the lines (guess it was too detailed and lines were close together.
What is the secret to being able to cut intricate shapes and lines?? I tried the “welcome bee sign” on 14ga…35 amps at 80 ipm using the RW45

14 guage…
35 amps…a little high …just a little
80ipm…way top slow…I cut at 120ipm

do a search with the magnifying glass…enter in “Razorweld cut chart”

you will get a whole bunch of great setting and charts to start with

keep it small…do the bottle opener till you get decent clean cuts…I made around 10 of them till I was happy enough to go bigger
