Torch fire control does not seem to be working (solved....for now)

SO…I am reaching out for some advice here…

cutting no problems last week…
Today I get all set up and check…double check my table…

  • material clamp on material
  • plasma on
  • all zeroed out fine
  • start…3 pierces no problem…
  • 4th pierce…ERROR…

So I go about the usual checks…

  • check all connections.
  • unplug and plug torch on/off connection
  • raise torch and try manula fire torch…NOPE…
  • turn off Plasma and kill all noise in the shop…
  • manula fire again hoping to hear the relay…nope…

Hmmmm this usually works…

  • take cover off control box
  • pull and replug what I think is the torch
  • retry all the testing again…

no relay sound and no fire…

Is there a way to test the relay at all…or do you think I somehow blew out my relay?

Relays do fail, just a mini coil with contacts that complete a circuit. the contacts will get burnt or a coating on them and then fail. You can get that relay at an auto parts house or electrical supply.

Your USB cable didn’t come loose at either end, did it?

To test a relay pin 85/86 are coil control. Put power to pin 85 and ground to pin 86, then you will hear click (if good) and will put power or signal to pin 30 and pin 87.

nope…can move everything around…
torch move as required…goes for touch down the sets cut height…no arc.

my hand torch works on the everlast 62i fine…

More than likely relay petered out then.

uhmmmm…well…which pins and what voltge…and…

You can use 12 volts on relay to do test. Doesn’t that relay pull from board? Never had to mess with mine why I ask. If relay is removable look at pins on relay, they will have numbers next to each pin.

That relay looks to be what is used in automotive industry.

the mini board pulls out…
I used to do electronics back in the day…that day was a long…long time ago…
might just try to get lanmuir to rush out a new board…

I also tried 2 electronic stores around here…no one has one…

its one of these bad boys

That sucks, I was thinking relay was just plugged to the board sorry.

yup…can not find one in our lovely Capital City of Canada…we are on the freaking goat path between Montreal and Toronto…

That is different than an automotive relay that I was thinking it was.

2.80 $ and ships today?

could get these and solder one in but likely wouldn’t save you time over getting a replacement from langmuir
