I was on the phone with the tech this morning for two hours getting the latest updates and training. He was great. After talking to him I followed the instructions trying to get my 16g to cut good with a small test part. Wasn’t cutting good, maybe do to my oxygen bottle getting down to 500 lb of pressure? Anyway it would stop cutting half way through? So I re homed both the AF and the hight one. Went to do another cut, hit start, the machine took off like a rocket to the end and hit HARD! I cycled the machine over a dozen times and it wont budge. Its stuck at the very end. Any ideas? Is it mechanically bound? Iv owned plasma tables for over 10 years and none of my machines have ever taken off like a rocket and crashed.
It’s probably mechanically bound, if its the Y axis that slammed like that you probably have to get a wrench on the ball-nut and mechanically move it a quarter turn or so to un-stick it. You will have to do it for both sides. Don’t turn the nut too much or you’ll mess up the gantry squareness. I would then home it to re-establish square. I managed to hit the e-stop before it crashed but I did have the same thing happen once, could not figure out the cause and it hasn’t happened since.
Quick question - are you starting at top of the table (opposite wall of the wall the monitors are mounted on). “home” is technically for the x axis at the plan north wall, not the plan south wall (wall with monitors). I was having this exact same issue because I was zeroing out too close to the monitor wall (plan south) assuming home was the lower left corner of the table - it is not.
Take a look at this earlier post: Motion Hold, X-Axis Runaway, and Loss of X-Axis Control - #5 by pendulumkc
Sorry to hear about that man. You might also have to turn power off and push on the gantry rail or gently on the Z-axis bracket to get it clear. Pendulum is also right it could be that the starting point in the program was outside the bounds of the table. We’re working to get that fixed so that way things like this don’t happen but for now it’s a good idea to manually jog and go to the outside points of your program to make sure everything is in bounds.
