Titan 25 tooling dies

Now you just need to machine up some punches, dies…

In my latest project I have to form up some “U” fittings out of .063 Chromoly plate. Unfortunately the 88 degree goose neck punches I have don’t quite have enough throat to accommodate the height of the flanges I need to form. I decided to try 3D printing a punch as I have seen being discussed here on the forum. I printed a modified gooseneck on my X1Carbon out of PLA (solid, no infill). I couldn’t imagine it holding up to .063 Chromoly which is some pretty tough stuff. I first experimented with some .063 aluminum 5052-H32, the punch easily handled it. I then moved on to some .050 304 stainless and then to the .063 Chromoly, again the punch easily handled it! Probably won’t last forever but sure beats waiting for Langmuir to acquire more stock of the 85 degree Extreme Gooseneck punch.

these were the first test pieces of .050 stainless and .063 Chromoly.

nice looking print! I thought it was anodized alum at first  I was thinking of a mod for printed punches, where one could install a hardened rod or piano wire in the contact tip of the punch to make it last longer. just an idea, threading in or friction hard inserts

Cool idea, I’ll have to try that!

Yeah I had seen that video, neat stuff.

I own a Titan 25T and a Langmuir Arc Flat table. Called customer service yesterday about buying a die was told only way to do it was send a email. So sent email yesterday got a reply this morning to that was a month or two lead time on dies. I didn’t order any dies at time of paying for machine figured would not be a problem. Is this the normal that other owners are seeing.

just got my machine last Thursday and I am short several dies and punches I ordered. Many new 25T owners are waiting on backordered tooling.

Yes, you should have ordered what you anticipated using the most. I don’t believe the response of this machine was expected to reach the levels it has, approaching 400 units.

Cool. Thank you.

Cool! I’ve got a P1S that I’ll be experimenting with on the 25T. Well done!
