TIP LIFE for my sync 45

hello

i could use some help . i am trying to make my tip life last longer. i believe i may be shorting the life of the tips. i am running a job right now of a 176 parts and i only finished 90 parts on 1/8 steel. in this event i used (2) 45 amp hypertherm sync 45 tips . thank you for the help

settings

130 ipm

delay of .5

80psi at the table

my air set up is a 175 psi 14.7 cfm at 90 psi . piping goes 3/4>3/8 at cutter.

i have 3 dryers 1 industrial air dryer and 2 silica orb dryers

What’s your tip to work distance? Do you run THC? Cutting amperage?

If you’re maxing out those tips, amperage wise, that may contribute to failure. Your air situation seems to be plenty dry.

How much cut time per part (approximately)?

cut is .125 and Pierce is .150 i used gage blocks to make sure i got these numbers

thc is on and 45 amp cut time is hart to tell i am doing by op not part. fusion is saying 26 min but i it more i didn’t time it

the od is 7 in dia

i am cutting 1 row now so i will let you know the cut time

cut time for one row it 16:43

I realized that Hypertherm is by far the best. But the new sync consumables at $45+ each are crazy, with the list of things you have to do to protect them from moisture, and still wear out. Unless you have an extreme water issue causing this. I would rethink buying one for myself anytime soon. Let the Hypertherm hate mail commence. I’m ready to read your success stories. You have to admit that this whole sync thing is a corporate idea to force OEM consumables down consumers’ throats.

i have had my crossfire pro up and running sense Christmas. i have had more problems the i will like .i don’t know if it my cutter or my crossfire pro. but it will randomly stop cutting . i redid my whole air system replaced the motion bord, thc cables langmuir sent me

Is it a ground loop issue or a laptop issue? Does the table pass the ground loop test? What error are you getting when it fails?

I could cut all that (referring to what’s pictured) with one set of consumables on my 45xp. Something is wrong. Only way to tell is with pictures of your cuts, need to know your live voltage numbers while you’re cutting (if you have THC), and more detailed information on what your air setup is. Pictures are always best.

Ground loop test ? the error i get is the failed to arc check thc high bla bla bla

It should read open or zero ohms. From the chassis to the printer-style USB shielding.

no ohms just now

Good. The next question is, are you using a laptop? Is it plugged into the charger while you’re cutting? This has nothing to do with the consumables wearing out. Like @brownfox said take a screenshot when it happens and let us know the voltage reading while cutting.

yes and Langmuir sent me this

Next time, try without the laptop plugged into the wall. That will sometimes make a ground loop. That all looks great. It looks like you have done your homework. Another question, work clamp on the metal you’re cutting? These are just flow sheet questions that need clarity

its unplugged. i get that error randomly i can run job fine and then it hits. hell some

times it locks up fire control and i have to do ctrl alt delete
