Thoughts on switching to "Sterling Cool"

I agree. Love my pups, but there are times they can’t be around.

Maybe I’m just lucky, but I only use water and the occasional sprinkle of borax. No fancy drains (even though they are cool). With lots of evaporation, my table has never gotten gross. I live in Houston with truck loads of humidity, too. I add buckets of water every few weeks. Just wanted to throw this out, in case people think they HAVE to have some water management system. I’ve had the XR for over for about 18 months, for what it’s worth.

Spend your money on good quality air systems (fast, super dry, clean), in my opinion, over water systems. Just my 2 cents!

I bought some drains, but the damn projects keep multiplying at an almost exponential rate, so I have been just draining once in a while and refilling with Borax.

I will get to it, but that damn “job” keeps getting in the way.

I can hardly wait to retire.

I did add a run of 1" black pipe (instead of 1/2") for about 30 feet to help cool the air a little, and then to a desiccant dryer , then to a Motoguard filter.

We will see. :crossed_fingers:

Interesting. I did the borax and water for about 9 months and my slates are significantly rusted. I started with that because like your experience I had seen many cases with good results. I added a drain system and started draining the table after each use with water and borax and vacuuming out the dust and small pieces once dry before refilling.

I have a bucket of sterling cool but currently have table leaks like a stuck pig even after having the seam TIG welded. There are (6) micro holes all at the bottom of where the bolt slots are. ( I found those buy blowing air under the table at the seam. I then moved my table and now all the spots where the table bolts to the table are leaking. Anyway I have stopped cutting for a bit due to homesteading needs before winter and searching for someone to make me a single piece table.

This has been alot of fun but currently a money pit for me. Although I have plenty of request that once I have my powder coat oven up and running I will have a money fountain rather than a pit.
