THC "no connection" on mac computer (Solved)

I made my first few cuts (turned out great!) But I noticed that firecontrol is saying no connection for the THC. I’ve checked the wiring and everything is correct. Checked fusion 360 to make sure the THC box is checked… we’re good.

I’ve read a few threads on this forum and believe my mac might not have the correct driver installed. There’s a sticky for this but it’s for driver updates on PC. Has anyone else had this issue? Cuts amazing with the exception of no THC. And yeah, I made sure my wires aren’t cross at the cutter.

Any help appreciated. My apologies if there’s already a thread for this and I couldn’t locate it

I didn’t know anything about Mac computers, but I can assure you that this issue has nothing to do with the wiring.

The THC connection in Firecontrol is strictly a USB connection between the THC chip on the board and the computer.

May need to crack open the enclosure and verify the chip is installed correctly.

Copy that. And just to confirm, I didn’t need to install the chip that came with it right since it’s “plug and play” I’m assuming the small chip they sent is for if I ran cutter that wasn’t the razorcut. When I installed all I did was plug everything in and start trying to run it

You always need to install the THC chip on the board. The chip ships separately, because there is an option to purchase without THC.

If you have the chip in hand, yes you need to install it.

I thought they started installing them for people, I didn’t know they still shipped separately.

Well that was a quick resolution. I skipped that part of the directions and assumed (like an idiot) that plug and play meant I don’t need to worry about inside the enclosure. I’ll install now. Thanks!

The plug and play terminology is only in reference to not having to splice into wires inside the plasma cutter for torch firing and divided voltage.

got the chip in. The directions literally told me to do it and I skipped right past. No worries, I’ll be back to waste more of your time soon! (hopefully with a more mentally stimulating question)
