Has anyone ever made/installed “shorter” table “slats” so that the work sits lower in the table, allowing the fluid to make contact with the bottom of the piece ?
I’m using GreeCut plasma fluid. They recommend to have the fluid in “direct contact (no air gap) with the metal being cut to improve plasma torch cutting finish”
My idea was to make shorter slats to achieve this.
Not much help, but I saw a system that floods water from table onto the top surface of work piece for cooling. This might be worth googling? (plasma torch flood coolant, or something like that)
there was one person here who added a water pump and nozzle to flood the piece of metal to keep it cool.
But remember the main reason metal warps is it the cut speed and amps are not tuned in properly to maximize the torch and table speed.
if you want to drop the slats then I would recommend you place a piece steel in the bottom of the tray raised a little bit off the bottom to act as a heat sink to protect the bottom.
I feel as if taking a quarter inch of the table slats wouldnt risk burning through. but definately something to take into consideration. Thanks for the replies everyone.
