Table Fluid Container Location

For those of you who have a castered deck the XPro sits on and a fluid storage container:

  • when moving the table to a different location in the shop I assume one would drain the table fluid into the storage container to avoid sloshing out in the shop
  • do you have the filled storage container on the shelf under table OR do you move the filled storage container separately to make moving the table on the casters easier

Thanks

Well for starters, I’d never put the table on casters. You’re asking to get that thing pushed out of square.

When I moved (and later sold) my tables, I just emptied the contents into a large liquid container. I did this whenever I’d clean the water bed as well and the container simply sat on the ground under the table.

@rat196426 has had several successful years with his pro and then his XR on casters. I doubt you’re gonna run an open tank of fluid so moving it full of water shouldn’t matter and if the casters aren’t heavy enough to do that then you put the wrong casters on your cart. Also hopefully you’re moving it carefully enough that sloshing around would be not much of an issue anyhow if you don’t drain the table into a tank.

The pro holds approximately 16 gallons so approximnetly 150lbs .

@Kwikfab Thanks for the comments.

That’s part of my query, if the storage container sits on the floor, I would require a separate platform with casters to move it as well as have a scenario to disconnect the plumbing coming from the table tray.

@TinWhisperer

Thanks for your input and links to other posts.

I plan to fab the table rest/tray beefy enough. My table location move involves going over some uneven cement and a door sill, so will have to use a larger diameter caster, pneumatic even maybe to make to move go smoothly.

Here is mine when brand new. I move it a little here and there without draining the table, but I’d drain it if I was moving more than a few inches. Just easier with the low center of gravity and less stress on the table.

Like Kwikfab said, I wouldn’t put the caster directly to the table legs, but I guess others have done it that way. If you do, definitely drain it before moving any at all. JMO.

I have had mine on casters for 5 years without any issues.

@Wsidr1 Nice setup with the sprayer tank integration on the table stand/platform. Happy to hear it’s working out well for you.

Appreciate the input.

@Bigdaddy2166 I’ve seen these style of adjustable casters frequently on the forum and in person on other shop equipment. They work well, but in my case with the obstacles involved, I’ll have to go with a larger diameter caster and some other method of leveling.

Appreciate the input.

Here is mine. It has worked well for me. All plasma cut parts and description is on fireshare. It uses the 5 inch casters from HF.

@72Pony Thanks for the link. Nice stable setup. Clumsy me would likely be prone to tripping on your stabilizers with the hockey puck feet. Cool idea. Great work using the table.
