Whys that gunny?? Lol, the flower?
Thought I’d dump a bunch of pics of what I’ve been making over the last couple months.
I make these fire pits but I’ve had more success selling the design files on ebay, etsy, and Facebook. I designed this one from the ground up.
I 3D printed myself a machine torch mount and cut a piece of 1/4" aluminum for the slide bar.
These are big sellers locally at $100-125 a piece. You’ve probably seen them from multiple vendors on Facebook, I just… umm… copied their designs. No excuses lol.
Recently got into cutting AR500 for target gongs. This was my first go at 1/2" and it came out pretty nice with almost no bevel.
I wanted a tube roller so here’s my current project. Harbor Freight Tube Roller redesigned into something similar to “The Beast” that SWAG sells. I’m still working on it and adding a spring return for the 4 ton jack that sits inside but it’s almost done. Next, I’m cutting a tube bender out of 5/8" steel that’ll use a air/hydraulic ram and JD2’s die. I’ve got the files ready, I’m just keeping an eye out for a drop piece that’s about 1/4 of a sheet. As soon as my supplier has one, I’ll scoop it up and get started.
A couple small business signs. I’ve done about 20 of these for companies in Arizona and New Mexico
A little example of nesting. These are brackets for target stands cut from 3/16" steel.
Awesome! Nice stuff!!! They actually sell those target gongs at my supplier, thought they were a little expensive though, making them for yourself or selling them? What do you sell them for? And what plasma do you have? I have a Everlast 50s, not sure I could even cut them out, thickest I’ve cut is 1/4" as of yet, and that was only by necessity…
Thanks @Dicky, I have a Hypertherm Powermax 1000 with the retrofit Duramax torch. So essentially a 60amp version of the Powermax65 power supply with the same torch and consumables. It cuts like a dream, I can’t wait to get an 85 someday. I cut them at 60 amps with the 65amp nozzle and a shield at 30ipm.
I’ve been cutting them to sell but only when I can get drops. 1/2" steel weighs 20lbs/sqft so you can imagine anything bigger than a quarter of a sheet gets really unmanageable without a hoist of some sort. I’ve been selling the 10" gong with a folding target stand for $120. The gongs themselves are only about $52 on Amazon so it’s hard to get much more than that for them. I designed a folding stand with target hangers just to offer something a little different. Total cost to me is about $15 in metal, $13 in EMT conduit and 2x4 for the legs and cross beam, and $1.50 in hardware. It’s a great mark up and easy to cut and put together. I’ll post a picture when I get home today.
Awesome! thanks! I can’t remember the size, I’ll look when I go to my supplier again. I think he sells the 10" for about $38. I didn’t know they cost that much! I use bowling pins hanging from and A frame with a piece of rope, about 5 of them… Kids get a kick out watching them swing when they hit them!
At $38 it’s probably the 3/8" thick AR500. The price goes up quite a bit for the 1/2" but it’s supposed to take everything up to .338 Lapua without pitting too bad.
Swinging bowling pins sound like a blast, I’ll have to track some down.
Here’s tip i found out, to run Gcode ln FireControl without power to the control box. I just plugged in the usb cable to my computer loaded a gcode fire and it ran it. So what this means it is using the voltage from my laptop. I have not finished my Pro yet, I got to make room.
The Fire Control worked great with without the motors, i guess I could of attached the motors, but I can wait till there on the machine. I was thinking if I wanted I could buy the Pro’s BOB, to put on my CrossFire.
I already have a the Z and can add THC.
Just check your local bowling alley, they usually sell them for like $1 or 2 a piece. I just drill a 3/8 hole in the top with a wood bit, then stick the rope through… The pins will take a beating when they are new!! The boys went through 500rnds of ar15 ammo on them, and another 500 or so pistol ammo on them and pins were full of lead but not out of shape much at all, it’s shocking actually… Once you pierce the plastic though, and they sit out in the weather, mush inside… Cheap fun!
I just want to pass on a little advice about Inkscape. I have a habit of leaving the tabs open, and the other day I was making a Mack truck bulldog sillouette, and I couldn’t import it into fusion without a bunch of lines ! I tried everything ! Finally i restarted Inkscape and it all worked fine ! I’m sure most of u know this. I’m just a welder not a computer guy !
